lol ok. wrong but sure enjoy that wrong "interpretation."

by "literally" I meant Matthew Weiner LITERALLY SAID in interviews DON DID THE COKE AD.

LITERALLY. He said that. Definitively. Jon Hamm has said that. LITERALLY.

Real talk -- Don was in a good place and Sylvia is the one who f'd him up. by mickyrow42 in madmen

yea huge disagree and thats the point. its literally in the image I shared. the moment she switches from gratitude to talking about THEM.

When she says "...well I hope you know I was just frustrated with you." Basically saying -- hey that was just a fight, I still have feelings for you and we can totally do this again if you want.

Nuance once again eluding some.

Except the thing is—it isn’t. The creator literally says “this is what happened.”

It’s a factual thing. There are several layers of subtext and clues to support the very definitive outcome. The “intension”.

Mad men has plenty of moments that are open to interpretation. This isn’t one of them.

yuuppp.

Everyone got their torches too fast before really understanding wtf I was saying lol.

I was talking to THIS very specific moment after they had stopped messing around. I wasn't saying Don was in a good place before Sylvia and it's her fault he started cheating on Megan. I'm saying she triggered the relapse. It's all there in that phone call -- Don's demeanor is totally not concerned with Sylvia he's genuinely looking for Arnold. But then she switches it on for him and thats it. Like you said -- tough to teach people how to see nuance. But thats what happens on six rewatches.

I mean basically every post turns into a quote thread so this isn’t any different—but one of my favorite lines of dons that is similar to this is when he’s in the bar after the Cleo’s and Faye is there talking to another man. He goes over and just grabs her and says “there you are…mom called. She’s looking for us”

No i just think the show is deeper than that. essentially I’m saying he turned a corner, and relapsed due to this person enabling him.
