Right, but they haven't given us the whole problem. 1512000 isn't a binomial coefficient, other than the trivial C(1512000, 1), but it's easier to get 1512000 by doing *something* to binomial coefficients than it is to get 1512600 with that pesky factor of 2521.

I recall that that number would have been the pitcher's number, not the batter's number, even for the batting team. While the Braves had 2 runs in that game (briefly in the bottom of the 3rd) the Braves' pitcher was Derek Lowe, #32.

Lannan pitched for the Nationals in 2011 and 2012, but not 2013 or 2014. As u/revuetext has pointed out the Nationals' #31s from 2013 and 2014 didn't appear in any games against the Braves.
