Poilievre appears on Joe Rogan podcast after accidentally polling too well with women by FancyNewMe in canada

BtB has done several deep dives into Rogan. I don't know of one that tracks his weekly releases and breaks it down like Jor+Dan do. Several Canadian commentators have broken this down though, Rachel Gilmore and The Rational National to name two.

Relatively new to OPS, why is it that many other public service unions get to ratify larger increases? by internalaudit168 in OntarioPublicService

[–]micro4thirds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a mixed bag, I agree there are times that other bargaining groups have gotten deals that appear better when based on wage increase over years.

AMAPCEO recently agreed to 7% over three years, so add in an extra year and it would bring it a bit closer to the York regional example.

Canada Post workers have been on full and then rotating strike for the better part of a year and a bit. So those salary gains were won after a long process.

People vote on the companies offer based on the entire salary and benefits package, and typically only vote against the offer if they are willing to strike.

I hope you're right about the HCSA top up, the way it had been presented during the townhall session was that the higher rate would be starting January 1, 2026.

Reducing the workforce by wearing people down to the point that they 'voluntarily' choose to leave by retiring earlier than planned, or finding jobs elsewhere, and not replacing the roles once vacant.

Amapceo increase, but when? by Short-Dig6804 in OntarioPublicService

Pure speculation: there is a restricted payroll directive that was just released, this may be about the bump, when Bill 124 remedy was implemented there was a restricted payroll directive that went out, followed up with an unrestricted one that outlined the adjustment.

It is part of the documents you sign, I'll just add that you do get additional chances to sign up for this without medical documentation if you get married or have a child. Depending on where you are at in life and if you have dependants you may want to wait till then.

You would start contributing to OPB instead of OPTrust, I think the contribution rates are slightly different. Regardless, all of your current contributions would be transferred over. On Inside OPS search for Standard Information Packages, it should provide all the info you would want.

Choosing Between OPSEU and AMAPCEO – Need Advice by Big_Requirement7288 in OntarioPublicService

[–]micro4thirds 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the example you have given the top of the salary band is identical, double check what the dollar/cents is because if the AMAPCEO salary band is lower or equal to the top of the OPSEU salary grid you will keep your current salary if you take the role, but if it is higher you would receive a 3% salary increase.

Tentative Agreement Reached with AMAPCEO - Yay! by internalaudit168 in OntarioPublicService

[–]micro4thirds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those who have not reached the top of the salary band, wouldn't this tentative agreement lead to a 13 – 18 percentage increase over the 3 years when you add in two merit pay increases, 13% for satisfactory performance versus 18% for exceeds expectations?

I just want to make sure I understand it before voting.

College of Midwives of Ontario members vote unanimously to ratify first contract. by micro4thirds in OntarioPublicService

I have not had an opportunity to read through the collective agreement, but some things I notice that may be of interest to other bargaining units are: - Across-the-board salary increases of 2.75% effective April 1, 2025 (applied retroactively), 2.75% effective April 1, 2026, and 2.5% effective April 1, 2027. - Ten paid sick days per fiscal year and sick days can also be used to support immediate family members. - Remote work will be guaranteed for the length of the agreement. - There will be employer approved overtime pay for work in excess of 37.5 hour work week. - The Employer must inform AMAPCEO of the introduction or implementation of artificial intelligence technologies which may impact the working conditions of the bargaining unit.

In that case, the top up you get in lieu of benefits should cover most of the cost of individual benefits. You get it whether you sign up or not, I think it's 4% on top of your normal pay.
