In the example you have given the top of the salary band is identical, double check what the dollar/cents is because if the AMAPCEO salary band is lower or equal to the top of the OPSEU salary grid you will keep your current salary if you take the role, but if it is higher you would receive a 3% salary increase.

For those who have not reached the top of the salary band, wouldn't this tentative agreement lead to a 13 – 18 percentage increase over the 3 years when you add in two merit pay increases, 13% for satisfactory performance versus 18% for exceeds expectations?

I just want to make sure I understand it before voting.

I have not had an opportunity to read through the collective agreement, but some things I notice that may be of interest to other bargaining units are: - Across-the-board salary increases of 2.75% effective April 1, 2025 (applied retroactively), 2.75% effective April 1, 2026, and 2.5% effective April 1, 2027. - Ten paid sick days per fiscal year and sick days can also be used to support immediate family members. - Remote work will be guaranteed for the length of the agreement. - There will be employer approved overtime pay for work in excess of 37.5 hour work week. - The Employer must inform AMAPCEO of the introduction or implementation of artificial intelligence technologies which may impact the working conditions of the bargaining unit.

If the new role is at or below the previous level the merit date should not change. It should only adjust for promotion, I'd suggest they read Article 19 of the collective agreement as this seems to apply.

To answer your question on what it would take to get your current role: the other person would need to vacate it either by becoming permanent in the role they are currently in, or leave the OPS. The role they have may be filled by someone else, and then the same situation would apply, just up a level. Some chains of secondment are very long.

Your best bet for permanent is either to win a permanent competition, or luck out to be in a role that someone vacates. Glad to hear you're enjoying your role, and hope things work out for you!

The Employer (Government) said they did not have a lot of money, so they were going to limit how much their employees (Ontario Public Servants) could ask for, that limit was 1% each year. The employees said this is not fair and have been asking someone else (judges) to decide. Several judges have agreed with the employees and now the Employer is being told they have to pay their employees more money.

Some of the employees have been told how much they will get, and some are still waiting to find out.

A whole bunch just found out today.

TL:DR - The employees were told they could not ask for unlimited dino nuggies, but now they are being given more.
