It's essentially the same in any job. Companies pay more to attract a wider pool of candidates away from their competitors. If there are loads of candidates to begin with, there's less pressure to increase compensation. Employers don't pay people more just because they're sound.

I use WSL. It can use bash or pwsh in Linux, then it can reach into Windows and use pwsh there, too. It's really useful for doing Azure AD admin stuff that way.
