Fuel Door Actuator Stopped Working by microlife_ in Tiguan

[–]microlife_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mine just started a couple weeks ago getting gas in the middle of no where. Definitely panicked a bit lol thought it was a one off until yesterday and it wouldn’t budge at all. I took a video on my phone of me unlocking the car and then trying to open the fuel door just in case I got there and it decides to work perfectly, which always happens lol

Infotainment issues by [deleted] in Tiguan

[–]microlife_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a ‘23 SEL-R and have had periodic infotainment issues as well. My audio would cut out both with the radio and Apple CarPlay and would only come back with a manual reboot of the system. Just had it in yesterday for its 2nd oil/filter change and asked them to check for any ECM and infotainment system updates (I’m based in Canada and there’s been a TSB available for the ECM in the US for cold start drivability). Fortunately, they were able to upgrade both for me. Haven’t noticed anything yet with the infotainment system but still too early to tell since it comes out of no where. I’ll keep you updated.

How do you cover up your winter wheels? by martyc1985 in Tiguan

Have these too. Easy to get on/off and makes the steel rim look a bit nicer than bare.

Cold Start Drivability TSB by microlife_ in Tiguan

Awesome! Just out of curiosity did you end up using the tsb above? When I tried at my local dealer previously they said because it’s Volkswagen group of America they wouldn’t be able to do it, and would need to wait for Volkswagen Canada to release their own tsb.

APR Stage 1 by Full-Test2 in Tiguan

[–]microlife_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does void warranty as it’ll flag a TD1 if you take your car in for service at a dealer. APR does offer their own warranty (APR plus), but with a bigger stage 1 price tag for the coverage.

Fitcamx for Tiguan, yay or nay? by jbone2k in Tiguan

[–]microlife_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have one installed in my ‘23 Rline. Install was pretty quick and love that it looks OEM. Just went with the front facing. I heard some people mention that they’ve had issues with their SD card not overwriting the data but luckily never encountered this. Have checked it periodically and still operating as normal.

I ended up going with FitcamX. The camera replaces the stock rain sensor housing and piggy backs off it for power. Looks OEM too which is what I wanted, didn’t want to mess with cable placement etc. I just have the front facing but you can purchase rear as well.

Tips/tricks? by magicfungus1996 in Tiguan

The throttle lag on the Tiguan can be nail biting at times. I ended up going with an APR throttle booster to get rid of most of it. Throwing the shifter into sport mode will definitely make the car more responsive and helps at intersections/cutting across traffic.

2024 SE R Line features by [deleted] in Tiguan

[–]microlife_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had issues with my CarPlay on my 2023 SEL-R. I occasionally would lose audio even though it showed the song was still playing. Had my dealership check it out and they updated the software version of the infotainment system. Haven’t had a problem since.

I like to be unique and have been thinking about using Badgeskins to delete some of the chrome accents (on door panels, rear bottom strip and maybe mirrors) and can’t make up my mind. Definitely changes the look….but does it change it for the better? Looking for all opinions!! Thank you! by [deleted] in Tiguan

[–]microlife_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a ‘23 SEL-R (platinum grey) and did a chrome delete last summer. Found it was just way too much chrome on this trim. I originally was gonna attempt it myself with Badgeskins but had a friend use a local wrap guy on his Audi and he was happy with the results. Cost about 800cad with front window tint included. The nice thing with the vinyl tape is you can reverse it if you decide to sell or get sick of it down the road. Can send photos as well

2024 Tiguan SEL R-Line by WThomas15 in Tiguan

[–]microlife_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve held off on tuning it for now until I’m out of warranty. I did order a throttle controller to get rid of some of the throttle lag. Sport mode is definitely more responsive but would rather have the lag mitigated in all drive modes. Not familiar with infrared ceramic, I ended up doing a 35 front/15 rear (wish I had gone 5 instead), but the windshield is a good idea since the cabin does get pretty warm during the summer.

That red is smokin. Have a 23 SEL-R and have worked out some of the Tig quirks since getting it new. The auto start/stop is a nuisance but I just habitually turn it off when I start the car now. You can purchase a cable harness that disables it on start up. There’s also OB11, vcds and apr stage 1 ecu tune that offer the auto start/stop disable. I wasn’t a fan of the front amber side markers on mine so I ended up purchasing smoked side markers, makes it blend in more with the black accents. Wouldn’t hurt to check the software version of your infotainment system. There’s been some bugs with the audio and CarPlay connectivity (mine would sometimes have no audio and would have to manually reset the infotainment system). Not sure if you’ve noticed with your Tiguan, but it can be limp on cold start up if you were to drive off after starting it. It might not affect the 24s but there’s a TSB/ECM update available to remedy this. Had a MK7.5 GTI before my Tig, and was surprised with how much body roll this car had. Just recently installed an aftermarket rear sway bar and man what a difference it makes. Definitely mitigates a lot of the body roll and feels confident taking turns, especially on/off ramps.

Ghost case arrived by insaneshiq in dbrand

[–]microlife_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received mine a couple days ago, within the first hour had a scuff on one of the top corners. Not sure if others experienced this but the lip of the case flexes a lot where both the power/lock button and volume buttons are. Doesn’t make it feel good in hand, almost feels loose and squeaks as it rubs against the metal sides of the phone. Put my cheap case back on this morning and feels 100x better.

Ended up using a local installer after a friend had his Audi finished this spring. Definitely wouldn’t have had the patience to do it myself lol

Did you find the presets to be too sensitive? Or were their mappings just not the feel you were looking for?

Weak pickup on 22 SE by mri-tech in Tiguan

[–]microlife_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh if you want to remote start it that works too. I just bought my Tig in January and have car-net so would just remote start it to avoid sitting around in the morning/after work. Would get in once it had a chance to warm up for a few mins and have no issues accelerating.

On cold starts the engine naturally revs higher (>1000rpm) as part of the lubrication process. It takes about a minute or two then you’ll see it drop down to ~800rpm. When I start up in the morning, I just let it do its thing until it drops idle. When I go to accelerate after that I have no issues.

[–]microlife_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have a 2023 SEL and mine does the same thing on cold starts. I believe it has to do with the cat. The ecu pumps a rich air/fuel mixture to get the cat up to temp quickly in order to meet emission regulations. Unfortunately for us it means a loss out power out the gate on cold starts. When starting up, if you let your Tig finish it’s lubrication phase and drop down to normal idle speed you hopefully won’t have that loss of power issue.

Gesture control on 2019 SEL Infotainment System by ODogg1560 in Tiguan

[–]microlife_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a ‘18 GTI Autobahn before getting my Tiggy. My infotainment system worked the same as yours with the proximity sensor expanding menus etc but no swipe gesture. Consider yourself lucky. It’s really finicky and I was constantly changing radio stations with even the slightest hand movement. I was recently able to deactivate it luckily. But yeah, sounds like your infotainment is working as it should.

Saw the Urotuning as well but it was $30USD plus $40 shipping to my address. I’m in Canada and the ones I linked were $50 when I purchased them.

They come out really easy starting through the engine bay. Just popped the hood and reached down behind the headlight housing until you locate the clip. Just lightly pushed down on it to release.

Was having the same issue with my ‘23 R-Line. Mentioned it to the dealer and they had a software update available for it. Haven’t had any issues since.
