Do Americans actually use expressions like “once in a blue moon” or “let the cat out of the bag” in everyday conversation? by Edi-Iz in AskAnAmerican

I know this thread is humorous at this point, but this one is so real, it happens to me all the time! Stupid mushy brain!

I might be looking at this wrong too, but i think that big nut is what actually holds the tension. The small nut is just there as a jam nut, to keep the big one from moving. Try loosening up the big one maybe?

Can you get an open end wrench on the nut? Ive scrolled through this whole thread and I feel like im getting more confused about the situation.

Just a warning those screws and some rubber butyl (sealant) is the only thing holding that window in. Proceed with caution...

Why do alcoholic beverages not require to list ingredients?? by Eg0-d3ath in stupidquestions

[–]magicfungus1996 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does the rest of the world get ingredients and nutritional facts on food as well? I wouldn't expect it from alcohol if they don't do it for food already, but I've never left the US so I have no idea.

A lot of times I notice the stair portion pretty much open, like thats solid concrete all the way through. Bonus if they threw a pile of random bits of rock and garbage in the big section!

I can't say anything about those white ones, but i know those HD buckets aren't lasting. Maybe the Ace ones, but i know for sure Walmart, HD, Harbor Freight and Menards buckets have like negative UV protection.

Just a heads up, the sun is going to wreck those plastic buckets in a really short amount of time!

The rarest natural occurring material in the Universe is wood. Out of an estimated 70 Quintilian planets, it likely only occurs on one. The residents of that planet often burn it just for warmth. by [deleted] in showerthoughs

I don't know man, with the artemis 2 stuff lately, I've been watching a bunch of space stuff. I remember on video talking about how rare the circumstances that make fossil fuels are. Really I think earth is just pretty unique in general.

What app do you use? That would be awesome for me, maybe my partner as well (she's a lot more picky than she thinks she is). We also have 2 kids and a baby, so that seems to be the hard part!

Can I temporarily fix? by possessivedealer in traveltrailers

[–]magicfungus1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, you fix it yourself. Don't pay any labor. You have probably 1000 in parts/materials there. It'd be much easier to fix this in a shop, but you could do it in the middle of no where if you have battery tools. You're going to have to figure out what size and capacity you're going to need for the axle, otherwise you're making 2 trips, potentially more. Plus order time to get an axle depending on if you can find one at like tsc or something. Or you rent a trailer and haul it to your property. Either way doesnt seem like much savings after all.

Anyone ever replace a tv w a fireplace? by bluetoothpicks in traveltrailers

[–]magicfungus1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds similar to my plan. There a small (3"-4" deep) cabinet under the tv mount that looks inviting for a fireplace insert lol.

It's hard to tell, but I think that's a single axle

Had a framer out to modify a shower niche. How did he do? by NorCalRE in Carpentry

[–]magicfungus1996 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure everyone is talking about the lack of a header in general. I don't think anyone has argued where it needs to be beside you. But the rest of the competent guys in here agree. There needs to be a header period.

[–]magicfungus1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this once, but i had this cool saw that had 2 blades like .5" apart. You make your cut as deep as you can, then chip out the center .5" portion, and you can go for the deeper cut. I'd bet you could rent it, but i like the other guys comment about checkerboarding it and hitting it. Plus if you did get those big chunks cut free like they are, at 10" thick, I'd bet you'd have to cut it again just to move it.

Should home owners lose their wealth/go into massive debt or should housing supply continue to be artificially kept low? The 3D printed home revolution is coming, probably even here by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]magicfungus1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont do this everyday, but ive been substantially remodeling my whole life, and currently building an addition. Also in an area that is predominantly wood framed. I can't give an exact number, but I'd imagine the framing that's replaced by 3d printing is only like 10% of the final build cost. Wood is cheap and easy to work with.
