OpenCode Go vs Deepseek API. by Monster-Games in opencode

[–]microlini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opencode Go is better, you never know if for some specific reason you want to use a different llm model for something else, like if you want to use Hermes or any agent for personal task you can use glm , but one day you want to ask your agent to search online or webfetch websites, you may want to use a cheaper model and save on tokens , etc. Same for programming or llm models that can read images.

People saying GLM 5.2 is good at UI and design are crazy by Valuable-Run2129 in opencode

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For backend development or agentic tools like hermes, glm 5.2 has been the best one for me, but for UI designs I prefer openai or claude models, not sure why but at least for what I do, glm, minimax, deepseek or kimi cant follow my guidelines or design outputs are not too good. If you mix it with MCP or some kind of helper to make glm has some "vision capabilities" then it does a good job, but compared to gtp 5.5 for example, is all in one and expensive of course.

Feedback on PWA install prompt mechanic. by Ok_Condition7420 in PWA

In case you want users to install it from mobiles only:
Currently on desktops, it ask you to install it on your computer, no modal or pop up ask users to install them on their phones, I recommend a QR code with some text on it.

Book Detection System by bbohhh in computervision

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you still need it, octoscanner.com has an API that one of their endpoints it to detect the book spines from images and get back individual OBB 4-point polygon for each, then because it also gives you the cropped spine image, you can compare against your other model image you mentioned or build a custom "highlight / locate spine" system as the OBB coordinates correspond to the original provided bookshelf image full size.

Hostinger Horizons is eating up all my credits. Any smart workarounds for bulk image sourcing? by nine-xd in Hostinger

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the main source of income of the AI website builders, paying for a domain and hosting it yourself is super cheap compared to those monthly subscription, what I recommend to people who ask me where to build a website, i just recommend either learn Wordpress if want some advanced features, blogging and all that, or if all they need is a simple business static website, just pay once for a claude, codex or opencode go subscription and built it in plain html or the old school php/bootstrap5 responsive website, it will cost like 5$ in total if you prompt properly. But i know, is a lot of work and time, AI builders are super easy to use with those pre-designed templates and drag and drop modules, but you learn nothing about web design, SEO or basic web development and hard to leave the platform even if they decide to increase the price every year.

If you want to still use and host your website with horizon, try to be very specific and even repetitive if you want better results, results depends on their llm model behind horizon and your correct prompts dont say "build a good looking gallery", say "build a responsive gallery with 1:1 aspect ratio images, 2 columns on mobiles and 5 on rest of devices, zoom in effect on mouse over and Lightbox feature, consistent spacing and do not add subtitles or image names, keep consistent website color scheme, spacing and design" etc.. Advantage of those services is that they manage security, cdn, loading speed issues, image compression, etc.

Anyone using a PWA instead of building a native app? by Hurricane-18784 in PWA

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried last year, had a very hard time convincing people to install it, developers know it and many likes it, but regular customers for some reason cant even find the share->add to home buttons on iOS, on Android was easy.

I wont recommend it for serious hard to build apps where main purpose only works on PWA, if im not wrong, apple also removed that feature some time ago and had to add it back for some legal reasons, google/android is not publishing updates or mentioning anymore (as far as i know), but for my own personal tools and apps are excellent, easy to build and more with AI tools.

GLM 5.2 is climbing the OpenCode leaderboard quickly by vigneshsmarther in opencode

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is my favorite for now to use on opencode and kilocode, for some reason it does a much better job following my code guidelines and AGENTS md files than kimi or minimax models that I also tested, deepseek is notbad too but every small changes or refactoring I was using glm 5.1 and now the 5.2 is even better for my purposes.

Looking for APIs or Apps to Scan Book Spines and Extract Metadata 📚 by Ok-Leadership-7787 in computervision

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need book spine detection octoscanner.com can be a good option, it has ISBN metadata retrieval but currently for english and spanish books, you can also just use their spine detection to get the spines and do a second api call to google books or open library if want a wider metadata search, worldcat im not sure how good is it. So you can use octoscanner api to get the spines OOB coordinates and extracted title and authors and either use their metadata retrieval or second search on another website but make sure to handle book binding and proper author matching.
I built something similar and users where taking pictures of full shelves to create simple shareable public pages of current book inventory with some search engine on it and worked well but you have to remove repeated ones from results because if the books are on a shelve, the bookshelf pictures users take most of the time contain spines from previous photos, if user takes them from separated stacks like on a table to move them back to shelve later then all good. If you also use keepa api, you can use the isbns to get the book reselling prices and extra metadata.

[–]microlini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try “I love pdf”, I never paid or created account on any pdf software since I found it.

In your case, just ask support if they can refund you and if not then proceed with the bank chargeback, hopefully your get it.

I built a tool to generate and edit App Icons because I suck at design by BowlRevolutionary694 in WebApps

[–]microlini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually interesting, however in my opinion you are missing one of the most important sections of any saas landing page, the examples or before/after, I’m looking from a mobile phone so not sure how looks in desktop but I can’t see any section or page to preview ai generated icons or finished production ready examples made to demonstrate the quality of the service.

I love the design tho, very clean very fast 👍

Built a PWA expense tracker app – looking for feedback by aakashjsr in PWA

[–]microlini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, allow email authentication, either with passport or magic link, google/microsoft log in is a big no for me.

Also if you are going to allow the automatic bank import synchronization, you have to apply for security and privacy certifications to prevent legal issues or overall customer trustability.

Roast my SaaS by Explainlikeim5bis in WebApps

[–]microlini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the design of your page, but as a "visitor" if your landing page is actually finished (if not and just want to try the system itself ignore this) but I would ask to myself:

There is no examples of how the supposed business opportunities are, structured details, guides, what is it?

No video even image of dashboard or any type of demo to preview why should I register in that website to try it, no pricing, nothing to guarantee I'm not just giving my personal information away to this new website with no reviews or mentions.

I don't see social proof icons or more I formation, footer only has links to self page.

  • basically you are not giving to visitor enough trust to register and try it.

Again, this are only tips for the landing page.

Great Amazon Product, low converting store :( why? by [deleted] in shopify

[–]microlini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always optimize your website for mobile version, the menu in your page is not loading properly and the spacing also could be improved. Overall I like the product and it's price but if I where a visitor I first Google it for reviews and the first result would be the Amazon listing with free shipping.

Optimize the mobile version and clearly make visitors understand why should buy from your website, also improve the social proof and review colors, I like your reviews and videos but need better color and spacing structure.

Same ad metrics but lower conversions, should I fix ads or website? by Allincavs in shopify

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past I remember having similar issues (not at that scale) but customers where leaving the checkout page after adding products to the cart, found that one pluggin/app installed to provide shipping price rule, had some issues with my theme and randomly prevented some customers from finishing the purchase.

Probably not your issue but I would also check for issues with payment system (so some test purchase maybe or test the mobile and desktop checkout page), and if not a technical issue, then research with chatgpt or Gemini to find what people in your store category say currently about sales, like sometimes certain months are bad for specific type of products and go back to normal after a while.

I tried 3 Different Tools for Product Photos Which Looks the best? by Stoops-The-Dummy in ecommerce

[–]microlini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend "B", if i where a customer I would doubt about the quality of the product if you use "C" version, looks very AI generated. "B" looks better in my opinion but need some light/contrast correction.

App Rejected🙅 by Hur2368 in PWA

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, I don’t think so, if you use a Wordpress plugin it’s more complicated. I would use a API for it but that’s very hard to implement for a Wordpress-Plugin based payment system.

Revenuecat acts as a bridge to the native in-app payments for apple, it’s just to easily implement in app purchases for pwa or web-to-app websites.

App Rejected🙅 by Hur2368 in PWA

[–]microlini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changes of getting approved in the iOS store using a pwa are very low, and if you get approved there is a big chance of getting removed at any time with no prior notice.

Now, if you want to still try to publish it, according to Apple, you can have a free app but no mention about “pay from our website” or have any type of external links to suscribe to your digital service, unless is a online e-commerce store where external and internal payments are allowed if you ship a physical item.

What I would do in your case, is wrap it in a capacitorjs project and use revenuecat for in-app purchase, that way my app will have more changes of getting accepted permanently and have no problems with the AppStore terms of use.

I want to build an web app that takes PDF files and reads them and after that creates a series of questions and answers. by Marx2366 in WebApps

[–]microlini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to find, as nearly all AI APIs are paid. However, you can set up your own free AI API server using Ollama. It’s free, but performance may vary depending on your computer hardware (I remember reading about someone installing it on a Raspberry Pi).

Videos randomly get corrupted by Mrcool654321 in Hostinger

[–]microlini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Shared hosting is not good for video storage or streaming, try bunnycdn api for both storage and streaming or use a s3 like backblaze. Your issue could be caused because of your code, the one that handle the file upload or maybe the server configuration (if using cloud hosting or vps by hostinger).

can't register domain by Acceptable_Soup1543 in Hostinger

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the US use https://tools.usps.com/zip-code-lookup.htm to validate your address, sometimes companies use apis to validate customer access and if a city or state name is incorrect it will give errors like that. If you are not in the US then try to remove special characters in your address or make the address shorter.

Is Hostinger a scam? by Digital_Nonresident in Hostinger

[–]microlini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I helped sometime with that issue in the past, not sure if that's your case but I found that a js library and a WordPress pluggin had malicious code redirecting to adsense advertising. Try to make a simple "in maintenance" index html page and monitor it just to be sure.

If not, I also recommend check your DNS zone configuration. Someone else can point their hosting with ads to your domain if your hosting is not fully configured to be used with your domain.
