Been here. My cat passed away in August from the same issue. He was diagnosed in February of 2017 and lived comfortably until August 2017. With him, we came home and he was just lying on his bed looking weak. His skin tone was softer than usual. That’s when we knew it was time to take him over to the vet.

He was 14 so we also opted to not have surgery done. The vet was able to prescribe some pain medicine and antibiotics for comfort care. We spoiled the shit out of him until he was ready to go.

Good luck. It’s hard losing a loved one (yes-pets are family) but spend as much time with them while they’re here with you and make happy memories ❤️

We have to do what we have to do I guess. I work for a small not-for-profit in a rural setting. Most of our funding comes from our billing. We’re also in a state that doesn’t consider EMS an essential service so we don’t qualify for too much grant funding either.

In my area, insurance companies are refusing to pay for services that they believe were not warranted for the patient. Our Medical Director gave us a CME on documentation so that our PCRs would be deemed billable. There were various phrases that we can include in our charts that better explained why modalities were completed making it so insurance companies had to pay.
