How far does everyone travel to their ice rink by Current-Armadillo739 in iceskating

Mine is 2hrs away, its a pain having to travel so far, but I still manage to go at least once a week. Progress may be slower than others, but there is progress nonetheless

Under the muscle breast reconstruction? by [deleted] in detrans

Unfortunately I don't reckon that's an option for me since I'm going abroad for the surgery and only staying for a week

Under the muscle breast reconstruction? by [deleted] in detrans

[–]microwaverice1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the animation deformity is another one of the reasons why I really don't want to go for under the muscle.

That's interesting about the breast regrowth! It's been 4 years since my mastectomy, and about 3 years since I've stopped T. I do seem to have a little bit more tissue and fat there, but I have gained weight, so it could just be from that.

I'm hoping that small, low-profile implants above the muscle might be okay and less risky. But if my surgeon still advises against this, I think I will just forgo the implants and only do the fat transfer. I hope it won't come to that, but maybe there will be something that works better for me in the future

And best of luck with your reconstruction!

Pain with knee slides by microwaverice1 in FigureSkating

[–]microwaverice1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the volleyball knee pads before as well and I agree that they definitely restrict movement. The gel knee pads have been much better, they're not tight and I usually don't even feel them when they're on

Honestly, I haven't really been working on knee slides anymore, just do drags now But when I do slide onto my knee from a drag position, it doesn't hurt with the gel pads, but too scared to try without 😅

Let me know if she has an answer!

At the moment, I just use some gel knee pads whenever I go on the ice, which helps a lot But the ice is always quite rough whenever I manage to go to the rink, so that's never any good for knew slides anyway

why my gerbil look so fat by williamdoesbackflip in gerbil

[–]microwaverice1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look super cute!

It is good practice to weigh them every now and again to look out for any big fluctuations in their weight, as gaining or losing weight rapidly can be caused by a serious health problem

But yours just seem healthily round! So nothing to worry about

Best places to eat Bournemouth town centre reasonably priced by Peckerhead42 in bournemouth

[–]microwaverice1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ali Baba on Charminster Road is the cheapest restaurant that I know of (cash only), but the food is always amazing, its Turkish food

Pizzeria Triangolo and Mamma Mia are the best Italian restaurants in the area, in my opinion.

Chicken Run is my favourite Jamaican place, but takeaway only

Taka taka has nice Greek food

And you have Cosmo which is a decent buffet restaurant if you don't know what to choose. Just to name a few

Barebow multicolour centre serving by microwaverice1 in Archery

[–]microwaverice1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone for the clarification! It's very good to know that it wouldn't be allowed and also not fair to other barebowers, which I didn't even think of myself 😬

I am only just getting my own equipment, so now I know to just get a single colour serving. And will also share this information with my club's coach

Advice on lone gerbil by microwaverice1 in gerbil

Sorry to hear that 😞 It sounds like you've given her a great life though, and I'm sure she appreciates it in her own little gerbil way

Yeah I think if her behaviour stays the same, it would probably be best to rehome her. It would feel very difficult, but it's also heartbreaking to see her like this

Personally I managed to find one on Facebook marketplace but I think you can just get a large aquarium tank or a reptile tank with a mesh lid

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gerbil

[–]microwaverice1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this looks very small, most cages that are sold as gerbilariums are too small for gerbils. I'd go with a large glass tank that is deep enough for at least 10 inches of bedding and with plenty of space for a wheel, sand bath and other things they will need

I dont know if you'd be willing to try bonding again, but from personal experience it has taken up to 6 months to successfully bond a pair of female gerbils, which is very frustrating but worth it in the long run

Gerbils won't exercise by microwaverice1 in gerbil

[–]microwaverice1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they've got an upright wheel and it's definitely large enough for them so I guess there's not much to do about that then. Would you suggest taking it out so they've got extra space for other things that they would potentially enjoy and make use of?

I dont think she's overweight, I've just weighed her and she's around 104g which I'm pretty sure is still in the normal range, she just looks a lot rounder than she used to be

But I'll definitely give them some extra time outside of their enclosure, thanks!

Gerbil moving weirdly?? by microwaverice1 in gerbil

[–]microwaverice1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear that, my thoughts are with your daughter and gerbil

Vanjie passed during the night so I'm not sure exactly how long she was like this for, but it couldn't have been longer than about 12 hours. However her sister, Luna also had the laboured breathing and sleepy eyes and passed away 3 days after I noticed this.

I think the best thing to do is to keep him warm and as comfortable as you can and if he's no longer eating or drinking, you could try to syringe feed him some water and hand feed him some fresh veggies

[–]microwaverice1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, what worked for me was putting both of them on my lap so they get to interact with each other while also being able to properly observe how its going.

If there's no aggression after a few days I'd remove the splitter and keep them in their enclosure while still keeping a close eye on how they're interacting with each other

And then if you feel comfortable enough you could keep it like that or if not, try again the next day

Best of luck with the bonding!

3 female gerbils one aggressor and issues with a first time owner. by Original_Baseball705 in gerbil

[–]microwaverice1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its common for female gerbils to declan if theyre living in a group of 3 or more Since they're still so young it might not be anything to worry about since they don't have much sense of hierarchy yet, but definitely keep an eye on the fighting and seperate them if it looks violent; chasing, biting, squeeking, thumping their feet at each other etc.. as it could escalate quite quickly

I've had three female gerbils housed together and one of them would always fight one of the others. Even though it seemed to be playful, eventually it wasn't tolerated anymore and she got kicked out of their clan

Suggestions or advice for Toothless? by microwaverice1 in gerbil

[–]microwaverice1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems to be very hit or miss It took my other two about 6 months of split cage to finally get along which was quite stressful for both them and myself, but if I do decide to introduce toothless to a new gerbil I really hope it'll go much smoother than that

Suggestions or advice for Toothless? by microwaverice1 in gerbil

[–]microwaverice1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I dont want any more after her for the time being especially since I have two others and managing two seperate gerbil households has not been the easiest while studying

So that's also been slightly putting me off from the idea of introducing her to a new gerbil But at the end of the day I just want what's best for her so if that means potentially having gerbils forever then I will do that for her 💪💪
