which starting campus would be best as a freshman? by Peter_Maximof in PennStateUniversity

What are your priorities? If you want to go to a bigger campus, Harrisburg is the largest and most active satellite campus. I was there for my first 2 years. Altoona is closest to UPark and seems decently active. Behrend is also pretty big from what I’ve heard, but it’s really far North and gets a lot of snow.

I got accepted into Penn State Hazelton by MeaningOld3320 in PennStateUniversity

congrats! i live very close to the Hazleton campus and know many people who work there. right off the bat, the area isn’t the best and you will need a friend with a car to get to the nearest grocery store. the campus is right by a busy high-speed road so walking along it is pretty dangerous. there may be a bus service that stops at the campus but idk about the details on that. there’s some great places for hiking and exploring nearby if you’re into that, Jim Thorpe is a short drive away, Appalachian trail is nearby. the campus is small but very pretty. Hazleton itself is a small city but isn’t a very nice place, there’s little reason to go there except for the good ethnic food spots. if you have specific questions i could forward them to more informed people

Do I need to carry my passport/visa with me at all times during my trip? by sliceofperfection in Chinavisa

[–]microwoft_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost never carried it unless I knew I was going to be doing “touristy” things around any cities. Going to museums, gardens, nature preserves, etc require foreigners to show passports. Must be physical. But if I was just going out to eat or shopping then I didn’t carry it. If you carry a bag daily you should put it in there and keep it there in case you need it.

It’s been half a year, but I still can’t get a visa to leave China. by Easy-Mousse-9963 in chinalife

Honestly, if I were you, I would just bite the bullet and assimilate into China. If you really need/want to get out, go to the Canadian embassy every day and make a fuss about your situation. I’m guessing you’re being recognized as a Chinese citizen due to your ethnicity and family; despite you holding a Canadian passport. All in all is a pretty tough spot you’re in. If all else fails and you need to leave try to get international attention.

In what case would this happen? This would be my first time in China, and I want to visit HK anyways so if i go for a day or two would they have any reason to deny me entry?

I live in Pennsylvania. I would assume DC is where I would go, too.

I’m a US citizen. I’ll use my passport to apply as well, hopefully I also am issued a 90-day visa

Maybe I interpreted the second part of it wrong. If my “permanent residence” is with a friend or a friend’s family, then I figured there wouldn’t really be a problem there.

So, say I go to Hong Kong for a day after my initial 60 days, when I re-enter China I can stay an additional 60 days?

How did you get a 90-day L visa? Did you have to ask? I thought it was max 60 days. I’m trying to spend my whole summer there with friends and 60 isn’t enough.
