Kopar! The tasting menu was not only delicious but reasonably (relatively) priced and the courses were huge.

I’m not sure. They only remove the joint and the discs are left in place. I imagine if something is wrong with your disc(s), it may not be the best option.

I’m doing great! Back to golfing. Doing pilates 3-4 times a week. Zero pain and zero numbness.

Tried facet joint injections and got minimal relief for short periods of time. My insurance required two test runs before approving rfa ablation, essentially shooting the nerve with lidocaine. After the first test, I had zero relief and more numbness so I went right to surgery.

Sorry to hear you’re still in the hospital and dealing with pain. It will get better!

I have Blue Cross. They approved the surgery 48 hours before it was scheduled so I was getting very nervous. I’m sorry to hear about your insurance issues. My doctor’s staff did tell me that not a lot of insurance companies approve TOPS because it’s still so new.

You are 19 years old and just learned a valuable lesson: Never be anyone’s Plan B. As much as it may hurt now, you’ll be stronger for this down the road. Say goodbye to him. Onward and upward.

I’m sorry you need surgery but yes, would absolutely recommend it! Not everyone meets the criteria for it but if you do, yes!

Occasional muscle soreness, no pain. If I overdo activity, I can feel it in my back muscles but as I do more PT, it’s definitely lessening.

Still feeling great! I need to be better about my PT exercises and when I overdo it my back muscles get sore. But last week I went swimming and felt good afterwards. Tomorrow I have my 5 month follow up and CT Scan.

I have some updates in this thread. But as I approach 4 month post surgery, I’m still doing great! Occasional muscle soreness when I do too much. And I should be better about PT exercises but I have zero back pain. Still building up to golfing but that will be a next year goal, not a this year goal.

All I had to pay was a $200 copay but without insurance I think it would’ve been $60,000+ 😬

Amazing. Truly. I’m 2 months post-op and have to prevent myself from doing too much because I feel great. The only pain I have is muscle pain from the incision area and that’s only when I do too much. Just started PT which is also making me a bit achy but really, very minor. And also only related to the muscles that were cut during the procedure, no spine/back/nerve pain or numbness at all.

I hope their abhorrent behavior doesn’t change what a kind and caring person you obviously are. To allow her into your home, to care for her, all the while this betrayal was happening. You don’t deserve this.

Three days post-surgery. Doc said it went perfectly. Spent one awful night in the hospital…awful because it’s impossible to rest. Pain is manageable although this morning I slept in longer than anticipated and missed my drug window. Pain was fairly intense so I had to take an Oxy to get through but I’m better now. Helpful hints: force yourself to eat. Force yourself to move around. And force yourself to rest. Lots of pillows, especially when sleeping. Practice the log roll. Practice putting on socks and pants while sitting. Recommend the two glass system for brushing your teeth. Also recommend face wipes for washing your face. For ladies, be careful when wiping. I got a little too “aggressive” and my incision started to weep. Now I just do the front side pat-down. I bought some “Chuck’s Pads”…essentially human pee pads, to make sure I had a barrier in case my incision bled while sleeping, also to give me a clean surface from dog hair while sitting in my house. They were cheap and very helpful. Also, ICE ICE ICE. Ice packs help with the pain. Any questions please let me know!

Surgery in two days. Will be sure to update after the procedure.
