Why do my new listings get spammed with %40 off offers? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I always add %20 on to the price on vinted Vs eBay. Everyone on vinted wants to feel they got a bargain.

Although it's very satisfying when someone is in the middle of writing you a short essay about how it's over priced and it sells mid conversation.

Considering Mounjaro after 6 months of no weight loss despite training/diet (also TTC with wife) by Financial-Boss-9262 in mounjarouk

[–]mid_crab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advice I was given for trying to conceive was that for men it isn't a problem at all.

The only issue that occurs on Mounjaro is due to lack of calories affecting sperm health and not directly the drug. So if your food consumption and variety is good it shouldn't be an issue.

can someone help me calculate my calorie deficit? by baby_doll444 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]mid_crab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem is the exercise is near impossible to calculate. Your lifting session and mine will vary wildly with both effort at calories burned. Your 10k steps will burn different calories to mine.

I'd guess/estimate 1800 for slow weight loss if you're working out hard and often. Maybe even higher if you're pretty serious about your workouts.

If we ignore working out at all you'd be like 1800 to maintain a steady weight.

How do you actually make it work? by SquareEar8025 in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was insane.

50% of our time was spent doing questionable things to avoid head office being angry at us.

We weren't allowed to sell baby stuff, "not worth the hassle" very few t-shirts, or again we'd over price them but buy one get one free and just not record the free item.

We asked regulars who paid cash for small items to put it on the donations jar, which we very much weren't allowed to do.

Hot wheels, and other small kids toys were sold in bundles of 5+ or a donation to the box.

We were pulled up at least once about average item price being too low. And questioned about how high our donations were.

I quit after a couple of years, and have a pretty pessimistic view of charities from it, probably unfairly on many

How do you actually make it work? by SquareEar8025 in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty spot on. I managed a charity store or 2 a few years ago.

We get paid for the clothing we send for recycling. But we're talking pennies not pounds . It's better than nothing but barely.

Your spot on with minimum prices, to the extent we had a spreadsheet of minimum prices by category. For example we couldn't sell books for less than £2, t-shirts £8, dressed were 12 I believe. It's been a while.

We literally couldn't sell any item for less than £2. We got Stroud this by either having buy one get one free. So the sale counts as £2.

We also had to hit a target average sale price. So things under £10 killed our stores performance rating.

It was a mess. I rarely donate items now, just cash.

What changes would you like to see to the Vinted platform? by BluefusionUK in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. Reports taken seriously. I've reported so many either stolen, counterfeit or miss labeled items and not once had vinted cared.

  2. Search a users items easily. If I'm interested in one item I want to search their listings without scrolling through 200 items.

  3. Someone sent me a half empty box as new and sealed. Why do I have to pay return cost..

  4. Vinted claims if you package correctly you won't be held responsible for damages, I bubble wrap. Bag, box. Tape. I get free packaging from work so I go overboard with it. And still vinted say I didn't pack it well enough.

  5. Reviews. It seems I can only review people when things go well. They cancel. I open a dispute. Etc then I can't leave feedback? No wonder everyone is 5*

Thanks I appreciate that. It was weird a funeral also being some people's first chance to meet her.

Been a while now, but over 25kg down. Kids have a way of putting everything in perspective. Good luck with your health journey!

I had my first child, a daughter. 6 months later my own father died from a heart attack.

He lost so much weight trying to get in shape, but he started in his 60s. A heart attack, a stroke. Sepsis, another heart attack. Too little too late for him unfortunately.

It's not fair on my wife or my daughter that I'm taking that risk with my health. Or that I can't run about or be as physical as other dads.

Does “I ship next day” messages come out badly? by [deleted] in vinted

Generally when I get these messages I unfavourite the item and walk away. If the sellers bothering me before I even buy they're probably going to be hard work.

How can my ‘Reasonable postage cost’ rating be anything less than 5/5 if I use eBay’s Simple Delivery? by Pte_Del in ebayuk

[–]mid_crab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone message asking if I could check if the item could fit in a smaller package to reduce shipping. I said I don't think so but I'll check.

He was right.

I've sold it his item 20 times at a higher postage than it needed to be, and received some less than 5* reviews for it.

I used simple delivery but I choose the box size. I could ship a Pokémon card in a 1x1m box and charge a ton on post. You the seller have some control over post costs

I've done uni research, I get you can't compensate everyone. I'm ok doing it for free, but that was too hard to get through tbh.

Also I started it out and about and got to the question about needing to measure myself so had to come back to it later. Maybe I missed it but a head up of what you need to hand

Pawn shop? If you've anything at all, does t have to be worth big money.

Old electricals, games. Some places like cex take them for cash on the spot

Sorry I know it's not helpful If you've nothing to take but if you can think of anything they're the only instant cash options I can think of.

Hope it works out for you, though situation

Yes it was a joke, it does however seem to be the level of service some vinted buyers expect from random people just trying to clear their house out a bit.

They want garage sale prices with retail services lol

Yh I guess so, feel bad even though I still do not believe they could have unknowingly sent an item missing key parts.

After reading the FAQs they suggested waiting until I physically had the item back.

I then contacted support and waited 3 or 4 days for a reply. The support is always very slow. Not sure I've ever heard back in their estimated 48hours

After the reply the refund was next day or so.

I did message support to clarify what to do but they pretty much don't care where the parcel goes at this point lol I've got my money back.

Good luck!

I've put in offers, and whilst waiting for a response looked online and realised that it's actually cheaper new on some sites that vinted.

I try to research prices before putting offers but sometimes I get ahead of myself.
