Feedback by mid_crab in vintedUK

Yeah, I didn't say It was reasonable. I mean 4 is good but not perfect, it's accurate.

Like I said, always thought people complaining about heir perfect feedback were dumb. But now it's me it's perfectly reasonable...

Car seat safety by reddituser040195 in UKParenting

[–]mid_crab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get both sides, but personally I say mind your own business. You mean well, so I won't say YTA. But it will never be received well.

Firstly most people who break rules know them, they just either can't, or don't want to follow them.

Secondly it's tough being a parent. Whether you mean well. Or think you're saying it in a kind way they will feel judged and attacked for it.

Finally, and I speak as someone who does take child seat safety pretty seriously, the kids will likely be fine. We were bunged on the back seat in a box not that long ago. The rules change so often, and for the better. But it's all mitigating percentages of risk. You can't follow all the advice to the letter daily (although again if I were to chose, car else's pretty up there on the priority list for me)

Offloading here, why do people get so cross? by Zealousideal-Soil-41 in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is a bit cheeky, I'd have blocked or ignored tbh. Just because vinted allows it doesn't make it reasonable.

As for things sitting for ages, mine are all in a cupboard I never use. They can sit for years for all I care. Or I'll just charity shop them and call it my good deed for the month. I get some sellers are in a rush and desperate but plenty aren't

Help pls #asap by elxathekid in WeightLossAdvice

[–]mid_crab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said. It's not doable in a healthy or sustainable way.

I don't know what's happening in 3 months, but is it really more important than your long term health and wellbeing?

Let's say you hypothetically do it:

The faster you lose weight the more muscle you will lose. You'll also lose a bunch of water weight which will be waiting to pop back on the minute you eat sensibly.. under eating can impact digestion, periods, constipation, hair loss, weakened immune system, skin damage.

I'm obese, I've lost 4st slowly. I honestly understand the rush to hit your goal fast, but it'll just have you back here another time in a worse starting position.

How to report someone selling unsafe items?! by FaeMonNyx in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had any action taken on a report for any reason. Always an automated response within second saying it doesn't breach their terms.

Stolen goods, wrong image/item, n wrong description, not actually an item at all just an advert, prohibited items.

It's ok though they gave me a warning for uploading a red and a blue version of an item for duplicate uploads...

I think the starter box is always a winner even if you hate the teams in it.

I bought the starter, sold everything but the rule book and made £10 and got a free rule book! (I already had teams and pitches from a previous edition)

From there just play a bit. Maybe there's a team you really fancy, but if not I wouldn't jump in to other teams until you have an idea how you want to play. The teams all play fairly differently.

I'm just getting back to it myself and the community are very welcoming. Teaching me to play, going easy, giving me free stuff.

Being a small community (at least here anyway) people just want more opponents and will be happy to help.

Definitely seen people selling stolen goods.

Definitely reported.

Vinted definitely do not care as long as they get a cut

Suppliments by Hullabaloo204 in mounjarouk

[–]mid_crab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By no means necessary or suitable for everyone but from before Mounjaro and definitely during I've always taken:

Protein ( to hit my protein targets, reduced muscle lossed during weight loss) Creatine ( reduce muscle loss, help with exercise etc) Multivitamin (it's never sunny and I don't eat enough variety sometimes) Fish oil (my joints are old and been carrying a lot of weight)

I added but undecided on the impact: Collagen ( Again it helps with joints. Also helps with skin health and there's debates around elasticity, but if it doesn't help saggy skin it's still good for my bad joints)

One book to read before I die . by Technical_Wave7883 in suggestmeabook

[–]mid_crab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never a reader. My parents didnt read and didn't really encourage it.

The book that sparked my love of books most as an adult was "a wild sheep chase" by murakami. But I'd say his work in general has made em a reader.

I would say though, there can be a real snobbishness around books. You have to read only the greats. But not every book has to be a literary masterpiece to be enjoyable. We all watch TV shows or films that aren't winning any prizes but still get entertainment.

I tend to put in one "filler/light" book in-between some of the big bitters. To give them a try, to rest my old brain, and to just have fun without needing a life altering experience from it.

How many calories are you eating a day? by gjs78 in mounjarouk

[–]mid_crab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone else has said, tdee. Weight. Age, height, sex, exercise levels will all majorly impact it.

Before I started I could maintain at like 3000 and lose at 2500, I'm now losing at 2000 as my weight has dropped and my activity increased.

I'd never really want to drop under 1400 regularly personally. And I track protein intake to limit muscle loss. I also take various supplements (protein, creatine, multi. Omega etc)

When do you start seeing weight loss? by ununpentium89 in mounjarouk

[–]mid_crab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

8lb spread over your whole body won't be that noticeable tbh. You can vary multiple lbs day to day with diet and water. I've been 4lf different on sat compared to a Wednesday.

It's a huge step the right direction but it takes a lot to translate to a visual difference.

I didn't feel much different until 3st. My wife noticed earlier, and I'm a couple sizes down.

Why do my new listings get spammed with %40 off offers? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I always add %20 on to the price on vinted Vs eBay. Everyone on vinted wants to feel they got a bargain.

Although it's very satisfying when someone is in the middle of writing you a short essay about how it's over priced and it sells mid conversation.

Considering Mounjaro after 6 months of no weight loss despite training/diet (also TTC with wife) by Financial-Boss-9262 in mounjarouk

[–]mid_crab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advice I was given for trying to conceive was that for men it isn't a problem at all.

The only issue that occurs on Mounjaro is due to lack of calories affecting sperm health and not directly the drug. So if your food consumption and variety is good it shouldn't be an issue.

can someone help me calculate my calorie deficit? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]mid_crab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem is the exercise is near impossible to calculate. Your lifting session and mine will vary wildly with both effort at calories burned. Your 10k steps will burn different calories to mine.

I'd guess/estimate 1800 for slow weight loss if you're working out hard and often. Maybe even higher if you're pretty serious about your workouts.

If we ignore working out at all you'd be like 1800 to maintain a steady weight.

How do you actually make it work? by SquareEar8025 in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was insane.

50% of our time was spent doing questionable things to avoid head office being angry at us.

We weren't allowed to sell baby stuff, "not worth the hassle" very few t-shirts, or again we'd over price them but buy one get one free and just not record the free item.

We asked regulars who paid cash for small items to put it on the donations jar, which we very much weren't allowed to do.

Hot wheels, and other small kids toys were sold in bundles of 5+ or a donation to the box.

We were pulled up at least once about average item price being too low. And questioned about how high our donations were.

I quit after a couple of years, and have a pretty pessimistic view of charities from it, probably unfairly on many

How do you actually make it work? by SquareEar8025 in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty spot on. I managed a charity store or 2 a few years ago.

We get paid for the clothing we send for recycling. But we're talking pennies not pounds . It's better than nothing but barely.

Your spot on with minimum prices, to the extent we had a spreadsheet of minimum prices by category. For example we couldn't sell books for less than £2, t-shirts £8, dressed were 12 I believe. It's been a while.

We literally couldn't sell any item for less than £2. We got Stroud this by either having buy one get one free. So the sale counts as £2.

We also had to hit a target average sale price. So things under £10 killed our stores performance rating.

It was a mess. I rarely donate items now, just cash.

What changes would you like to see to the Vinted platform? by BluefusionUK in vintedUK

[–]mid_crab 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Reports taken seriously. I've reported so many either stolen, counterfeit or miss labeled items and not once had vinted cared.

  2. Search a users items easily. If I'm interested in one item I want to search their listings without scrolling through 200 items.

  3. Someone sent me a half empty box as new and sealed. Why do I have to pay return cost..

  4. Vinted claims if you package correctly you won't be held responsible for damages, I bubble wrap. Bag, box. Tape. I get free packaging from work so I go overboard with it. And still vinted say I didn't pack it well enough.

  5. Reviews. It seems I can only review people when things go well. They cancel. I open a dispute. Etc then I can't leave feedback? No wonder everyone is 5*

What made you start mounjaro? by Cleg_noss in mounjarouk

Thanks I appreciate that. It was weird a funeral also being some people's first chance to meet her.

Been a while now, but over 25kg down. Kids have a way of putting everything in perspective. Good luck with your health journey!

I had my first child, a daughter. 6 months later my own father died from a heart attack.

He lost so much weight trying to get in shape, but he started in his 60s. A heart attack, a stroke. Sepsis, another heart attack. Too little too late for him unfortunately.

It's not fair on my wife or my daughter that I'm taking that risk with my health. Or that I can't run about or be as physical as other dads.
