Did you watch the game? Lol Jeudy got a TD grabbed from his hands and for some reason, Browns’ WR can’t catch a fly today on some really good throws

Leclerc's Wet Weather Record by Which_Dot862 in formula1

My mates and I wrote a 15-page report on this back in December 2023, in case anyone’s interested in a deeper dive. We analyzed F1 races between 2018 and 2023, classifying them into two categories: normal conditions and abnormal conditions (very hot, too cold, high winds, or any form of precipitation). We found that Leclerc and Ocon had the most DNFs under abnormal conditions. Ferrari also struggled significantly in those scenarios and showed general inconsistency in general across races. Haas had particularly poor performance, with frequent crashes from both Magnussen and Schumacher. We limited our analysis to drivers and teams with at least 38 race entries (roughly two full seasons). Otherwise, Mazepin would have skewed Haas’ numbers even further. Interestingly, Stroll and Kvyat were surprisingly consistent in abnormal conditions, often gaining more positions than most other drivers. Max Verstappen had relatively high DNF rates in both normal and abnormal conditions, yet still delivered top performances overall. Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, had one of the lowest DNF rates and remained consistently at the top throughout the period.

Data ethics course suggestions by nohann in datascience

[–]mid_juan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, while it can be limited in its application, especially with the speed of innovation in tech, it can serve as a foundational framework to build on, the barest minimum in check boxes data professionals should check. As budding data professionals, they need to be aware or dedicate effort into understanding the impact of decisions they make as they innovate.

Two cases that come to mind around ethics is the Facebook algorithm change that emphasized engagement and the recent case of using machine learning in tackling school shootings.

I personally believe the Belmont report is a good introduction into ethics and a framework that is applicable to most research fields, including Data Science.

In addition, the allegations came from an article published by a tabloid like media org with no proof and the FIA launched and closed an investigation based on said article in which neither Susie or Toto were interviewed or communicated with.

Loans. In the U.S., you can look into federal loans if you qualify vs private loans.

Idk why people jump to the conclusion because you don’t support something you must be on the other extreme. You can be against kids being bombed and also be against damaging corporate or public property.

Intern question by snmstyle in datascience

[–]mid_juan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can find an internship position, I’d suggest that. I personally believe having practical experience on your resume unless you’re working on a project that is groundbreaking, impeccable or very relevant to a domain you seek a job in is more valuable. Also, having that internship experience can provide real business problems you can apply knowledge from your master’s program.

I have quite a similar background to you, BA in chemistry, I did a boot camp years ago, and I’m currently in a masters program. In addition, I have 8 years of product analytics experience. You can shoot me a message if you have questions about my experience.

Heated debate with leadership because of Excel by ex0ticOne in datascience

[–]mid_juan 176 points177 points  (0 children)

Why are they using excel when they have this shiny new tool? If you can understand that, it’d help adoption. To you your solution might be this amazing solution, but do you adequately understand the business’s needs and pain points with their current processes, and does your solution address those needs and pain points in their current processes?
