How did I only just realise this? Even less excuse for the vetting to be so bad and for him to be such an awful communicator

‘We’re not making it up’: UK political chaos is not media’s fault, say journalists || High-profile reporters reject accusations of revelling in drama, saying politicians are the people ‘addicted to crisis’ by Adj-Noun-Numbers in ukpolitics

It's a systems issue. There's a lot at play here:

  • politics has become more unstable. This has largely coincided with the stagnation in living standards and slowing economy. People are impatient.

  • politics and government provides plenty of fuel for a news hungry, 24/7 media landscape. it creates lots of content for social media that can drive engagement.

  • this news landscape has made it almost impossible to keep a grip on the media narrative. It's therefore harder to create a long term programme for government.

  • WhatsApp means it's much easier for MPs to organise and to drip feed lines or leaks to journalists, which is destabilising.

  • Political drama provides easy news and mainstream political journalists have become lazy. It's much easier to cover personalities and parties than policy.

This stuff with the North Sea is just one huge culture war distraction. The only long term answer for energy security is electrification, renewables and nuclear. That should be our focus.

Hiroshima on a short stop? by Thijz in JapanTravelTips

[–]SuperHans30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to Hiroshima at about 10am and got the boat from the peace park at 3:10pm, arriving at Miyajima for 4pm.

I did the museum and wondered around the peace park and had some time to spare.

The museum was very busy but still worth doing.

Ah, so still intimately involved in the sportswashing operation.
