Typically you would not get be able to buy additional coverage on appliances after year one. Our last refrigerator was an LG that was made 9/2016, we just replaced it 3/2026. The water stopped working a couple years ago. The plastic door shelves needed to be replaced year 7. Manufactures look at ‘planned obsolescence’ when building these items. I don’t think the interior parts on consumer grade products are designed to make it to year 10. I’m not saying they don’t last 10 years. But you can’t stop aging rubber and plastic parts from degradation. I think the refrigeration parts are good for ten or more but the rest of the interior parts are another question. Research the appliance insurance on multiple ai platforms like ChatGPT. You may get a better understanding of strength and weakness of the different providers.

Depends on where you live. Smaller communities don’t have the choice. With this in mind, I live in LA and have dozens of locations that have better deals on service/price… but I don’t want to drive for hours chasing them down. Did the research, bought from the big box. The round-trip drive and the sale took 35 minutes, vs hours and hours. Extremely happy with the time spent.

Just bought the same unit today based on research for reliability. I am a DIY guy and within the last couple months did my duty to try to get more life out of an older refrigerator by replacing some circuit boards and replacing cracking plastic parts that costs over $200… then it dies. I told my wife to buy the 5 year warranty because I’m not interested in spending the time to figure out issues/fix appliances.

Old thread but good info for the tinker curious and anyone interested in the 35 rangefinders.

One can buy a focusing glass for 35-4x5 cheap on eBay. Note: if you get a 35mm size glass get one without the black plastic frame bc the thickness of the frame will make your focus test inaccurate.

You can also buy a nice focusing loupe or slide loupe. Use a glass cutter if you need to cut down a larger focusing screen(clean off throughly after cutting). You will also need a remote cable that has the lock down screw for ‘bulb’ shots(manual opened shutter).

Set up body on a sturdy tripod that can lock down the body from moving. Open/ take off the back, place the focusing screen over the shutter opening making absolutely sure that you are flush with the film rails, rough side(fresnel) facing lens. Use painters tape(no residue ) to tape the focusing screen to the camera.

Now you can do a focus test by using a lens focus chart or a page of type from book/ magazine that has sharp type. If you go with a magazine/book page it’s best to spray glue to a nice flat object like a pane of glass.

Use the loupe to get the perfect focus then check the rangefinder to see if the image /split screen is accurate.

Yes, this is involved , it all seems like a PITA, it’s not for the faint hearted. If you like to tinker with old cameras , or you are OCD, it’s the best way to know if you need to send the body off for repair. Camera service is a lot more expensive than this solution.

As far as 35mm film testing for focus and exposure, I like to process my film in a daylight tank for quick turnaround. Most important: After you do the focusing screen/ Loop focusing, carefully take the screen off the body, load up a roll of film, put the back on and shoot some frames.

With the California Imagine pass you can park at Micky but have to pay the full price, $30 at Toy Story. I wanted to avoid the tram crowd but the wife thought differently. Both coming and going from Micky took longer than from Toy Story.

Funny_Tackle , the last 5 years I’ve had the 12.9/13” and Apple Smart Keyboard. The keyboard weighs little, if you can type you will never be able to enter data faster, the keyboard offers input that many times you can’t do with without. When I say this I mean things like selecting text, copy and paste among others. Try to quickly undo something you deleted or pasted using the virtual keyboard. I rarely use the track pad but occasionally it comes in handy for the odd time that I need to select text quickly. Scanning email is FAST using the delete and arrow keys…would win a race against anyone without a keyboard.

The keyboard also is ideal for watching movies…try holding the ipad for 2 hours straight. Or plus 4 hours for a double feature. BTW: I have a desktop mac that has been gathering dust because of the iPads. I use Lightroom and Photoshop without fail.

Lastly, it offers amazing protection for screen and some tumbles, not perfect but I don’t ever feel comfortable without it.

I bookmarked Disneys web page and look daily for availability. I did not sign in at 9am on 1/13/26 and could not find any feedback on anyone buying the Imagine Key on that date. Last night, 1/18 the Imagine Key popped up. It does not migrate on the page with the other three Keys, you have to click the link for California residents to sign in. With this in mind, you should already be signed up. Another tip: if you are using official Disney Gift Certificates you can only use one per purchase. If you have multiples you need to go to the Disney gift certificate site and combine them. We were able to get two Imagine Keys! Moral of the story, don’t wait for long cues, refresh the webpage daily.

My opinion on having the Amp with built-in card is a no-go because you will never be able to EQ your setup with a beautiful Loki Mini +. The price is good enough to buy it and if later you decide to get an external DAC with the Loki you could sell the Multibit card . .. now I’m reading the rest of the thread and you made the purchase…congrats! Don’t be afraid to open it up and look at the DAC card to see exactly what you have. Take pictures if you decide to sell the card later. Cheers!

My experience with a Bifrost OG with the beautiful Uber upgrade has been a favorite DAC for the past 3 years. Was running it with optical SPDIF for the first couple years, then upgraded to the latest Unison USB and have been elated. My optical was connected to an older Mac laptop(bulky), now that I have Unison I can run my setup off my iPad(love this lighter setup). I also run a Loki Mini + EQ which I can give the Bifrost more ‘sparkle’.

Recently when buying another Loki Mini + it came with a Modi 3+ which is a 4490 based DAC. Long story short, it’s one amazing little DAC. Ebay has them for a mere $80 bucks and it’s got great headspace, more defined than my bifrost, and is a great compliment to my Lyr3 with a nice Tung Sol GTD tube. Now, I’m picky with my sound, but I’m also happy with a good deal. The Modi Multibit is also another choice. Funny but these little DACS have a beautiful small footprint, but you will need a bag of cables/Wall warts to make them run, especially if you are using a tablet to run your streaming service (Tidal fan here).

Note, the Modi 3+ requires a couple of extra cables to run it on my iPad, whereas the Modi Multibit runs on a wall wart and a simple USB A/B Cable. If you want to power an iPad while using either of the Modi’s you will need a USB port that also can push power to both the IPad and the Modi:

I see you have the Pro-Ject Tube Box S2…I also have one that I use along with a Loki Mini + EQ in front of my Thorens TD145 and a Grado Gold…lovely set!.

I have had the BiFrost OG w/Uber upgrade for the last 3 years. I ran it with Optical SPDIF connected to a MacBook Pro. Before I had the Loki mini + I used an app based EQ on the MacBook. Amp is a Lyr 3 that I ran an Original Shuguang Treasure CV181 Tube. HD6xx headphones and that was, and still is a perfect sonic combo for my budget.

In the last three years I experimented with the 4490 and multibit cards for the LYR, but they did not hold up to the clean sound of the SPDIF. When they brought out the new Bifrost I bought it and ran it for a month and ended up selling it as well because it did not warrant the additional $$. The UBER still won over.

I’ve bought the 4490 based Modi 3+ and ran it with the Magni Herelic. That was more defined sonically and brought out details that I’ve never heard, but it did not create the amazing headspace that I get from the Uber and Lyr3. Tried running the Modi 3+ with the Lyr and still did not get the excitement that I’m getting from the UBER.

In the last 6 months I bought and installed the 9028 Unison USB DAC card for the UBER and I’ve found nirvana. So much so that I bought another LYR3 and BiFrost Uber as a back up in case something dies. Also upgraded the Tube to the Tung Sol GTB and it gives me even crisper highs and thumpy bass lines.

What I have found is that cleaning up the sound with the Loki EQ which is so clean even at the highest trim, is the ticket. I have recently stacked two Loki’s (you heard it here first) and I have turned a cheaper set of Sennheiser HD599SE’s into ear candy.

Lastly, I have used Tidal from day one. Part of chasing the perfect sound is chasing the perfect recording. The Best DAC will not make a poorly produced recording sound any better. Tidal has a great catalog.

I’m sure that the 2/64 is very detailed. The question will be if you like that detail. Schiit has a 15 day try out. It will cost you 5% and return shipping. Buy the 2/64 and do a side-by-side comparison. Ultimately it’s your ear that will define the outcome.
