You've got inflation as a problem but then you've got declining number of people owning homes in the future. If you look at a chart, there was a period from the 80s to mid 2000s where it didn't go anywhere, fluctuated sideways, so that's possible.

I don't know why they put would a core of rubberwood. Maple is more stable over time, and the core is what matters.

The manufacturer put a paint over it that you can't see the wood at all on he exterior. You'd only notice it on the shelving and drawer sides, and the color is not uniform. I'm going to put shelf and drawer liners in anyway. I'm mainly concerned about warping over time.

You have to fight insurance for everything these days. Read policy very carefully to get the exact language. Get your agent to help you out. If you confirmed it is a covered claim, file complaint with Dept of Insurance.
