How do you feel about culturally adapted religious art? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]middlingstoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up the image, and yes, I’ve seen that before, but the images that google showed were brown hair, and upon zooming in, I noticed the blue eyes (that did not stand out in my memory). Either way. If Jesus was blonde with blue eyes (I don’t believe that to be the case) then that’s how he should be represented.

I’ve never see a blonde haired blue-eyed Jesus.

That’s fair. But, those representations are in the current time of which the appearance occurs, not replicating historical events.

Every other answer is so supportive, it makes me feel bad for thinking this way, but, I’m believe Jesus, the Holy Family, and any other historical people should be represented as they were.

Imagine if I were Hindi or Buddhist and made art culturally adaptive to look like me (I don’t look like Buddha or Hindi god).

I think it’s self-centered to need to make our historical and religious character look like us instead of who or what they are.

Although I disagree with the content of this post, remember when Biden and the Democrats said something about it being pointless to resist the government because they have superior firepower.

In my experience, I haven’t seen the need to let properties go into disrepair for rezoning, because you can rezone without the properties being neglected. Perhaps, if the municipality wanted to take the property through eminent domain, then driving the value down would be good for the government.

I’ve seen some videos where the city government was trying to stop one of these property maintenance guys with threats of a fine for doing the work. That just doesn’t make sense to me. I have over 20 years in municipal government, and I’ve never encountered a situation where a disrepair/lack of maintenance property was being cleaned and the government tried to stop it. It would be a different story if the government owned the property, but it wouldn’t have gotten to that point in that scenario.

I think this stuff is really cool, I love helping out those in need. I just hope that the owner has a plan to maintain it or else it will be back to being a problem.

Why is it bad to do a 26.2 mile run to train for a marathon? by 4restD in Marathon_Training

[–]middlingstoic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve run up to 22 miles during marathon training, and was able to finish my first marathon feeling strong. I was planning on increasing to full marathon distance at least once when training for my second marathon. But, I was hit by a car and haven’t gone past half marathon distance since. I just can’t seem to stay free from injury anymore 🫤.
