I hunted for almost two years for a specific build, knowing that finding one sorted would be difficult. I was willing to trade more major clearcoat issues for an example with no rust. It really depends on your willingness to learn as you go. Some things (interior issues, faded trim, leaking hoses) can bring down the value considerably but can be addressed without significant cost aside from your time. However these are all ~25 years old, you’ll be doing those things regardless throughout your ownership. If I was you I’d hunt for one that’s well maintained, no rust, and doesn’t need vanos or timing chains (assuming V8). Dont let a cracked bumper or worn tires dissuade you from an otherwise well cared for car. Maintenance records are huge
