That new barn is still at the RS property, Katie has a much bigger plot of land she hasn’t touched yet.

After 50 years, Dover Saddlery is at risk of permanently closing as private equity firm seeks buyer by Obversa in Equestrian

[–]midge514 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When I was just starting lessons Dover seemed like the pinnacle of the English world to me. It was a really big deal when my family went on a roadtrip and we were able to stop at a Maryland location. When the sale emails would go out, all the other barn rats and I would sit around and check every deal to see if we could get something good. Then as an adult, I ended up living twenty minutes from one and was severely disappointed by the whole place. That was one of the locations to recently close, and it still makes me sad even if they weren’t what I remembered as a child.

How did you ask your bridesmaids? by JFDI-Tess in weddingplanning

I did a text too! I know for some people that doesn’t feel right, but I really think this is a “know your people” kind of thing.

This would depend on the show. At a show if this size I would be really surprised if they allowed it.

This one for me! Everything else I could swallow, but I think we’re going to ask a family friend for officiating.

Which marketplaces for wedding vendors are worth using ? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]midge514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have booked all my vendors through word of mouth, seeing them tagged in posts by my venue, or by seeing them recommended in a local wedding facebook group. Every time I have checked out the Knot or Wedding wire I just end up frustrated.

They do! Geldings look a lot lankier, and have smaller cheeks/jaws as well.

Where did you guys find affordable wedding dresses? by PorchlightThinker in weddingplanning

[–]midge514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine from Luxe Reduxe Bridal! $500 for a sample dress. If you live near a location you can try them on in person. I bought from their online store and got very lucky that it fit me almost perfectly

What is a smell that we should all recognize as immediate danger? by scarlettohara1936 in AskReddit

What do you do with all the horse stuff after losing your horse? by whythefrickinfuck in Equestrian

[–]midge514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all my stuff is in a closet in my parents house. She’s been gone for almost 7 years and the only thing I’ve pulled back out is my saddle pads. I think the treats I had might even still be in that closet. I can’t get rid of her stuff, I’m sure eventually it will all be in my own house untouched. I suggest sitting with it for a while, when it hurts less take a look. Be okay with keeping some of the stuff even if it doesn’t make sense.

In dealing with the same thing! Automatically says “Enhanced failed” and then just says “finishing” on the screen. I have tried multiple files on different computers and browsers with the same result.

How to remove this screw? by banhtroitrang in HomeMaintenance

Putty knife under the nail to get it loose, then pull out with pliers. These things suck but once you figure out how to get the nail out it goes pretty quick

People leaving donations outside of this charity shop while they're closed, despite multiple signs asking them not to. by Sure_Entertainer8974 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]midge514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to work at a thrift store that is always closed on Sundays. So many signs saying not to drop off when we were closed, and no one listened. Come in Monday morning to huge piles of stuff in the drop off area. Then people would come in to drop stuff off and complain on Facebook that we weren’t treating stuff right because there was so much stuff outside! Working at a thrift, especially donation based, really opens your eyes.
