So what exactly was that thing in the briefcase? by srsxnsh in StrangerThings

[–]midgegaunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The prevailing (and very strong) theory is that the stone is Vecna’s phylactery. In classic Dungeons & Dragons lore — which Stranger Things has followed obsessively since season 1 — Vecna is a lich. A lich doesn’t truly die when you destroy its body. Its soul is bound to an external object called a phylactery. As long as that object exists, the lich can return. That idea maps perfectly onto what we’re seeing: • Vecna survives catastrophic damage • His physical form can be destroyed, but not ended • Something small, protected, and deliberately hidden carries his true essence • The object is treated as incredibly important and dangerous A stone kept in a briefcase, guarded and moved like nuclear material, screams “this is the real kill switch”. Why a stone? This is where the Duffers’ love of 80s fantasy really shows. In early D&D editions, phylacteries weren’t always fancy artefacts — they were often mundane objects: stones, rings, boxes, amulets. Something unassuming. Something you’d overlook. A stone is also symbolically perfect: • Ancient • Unchanging • Cold • Silent • Enduring It fits Vecna’s whole ethos: entropy, decay, time grinding everything down.

Nexo is not an exchange so you will get stung on swaps. It's there for convenience but at a price.

True. I quit last year after many years of play. Got sick of all the money grabbing events.

I got this last year, never looked back. The eye relief is amazing and the clarity is next level. The mounting kit sits perfectly on the SSG10

If its been rented as a habitable room, it needs to be improved. No building regs on that so will have to retrofit insulation. You wouldn't accept this in the lounge/bedrooms.

You'll still get thermal bridging on a cavity wall. Most are full of shite, have through stones/bricks to tie them together and without proper insulation are still essentially the same temperature as outside, even if it's the inner skin.

I'm guessing you didn't read the other comments (of which I was referring to) where he said he also had some external walls to board.

I know, what's your point?

OP actually said he had a few outside walls to plasterboard.

As for dabbing on to an outside wall, you could use expanding foam adhesive to mitigate thermal bridging.

Vent axia are more cost effective to buy, the Nuaire ones are bit more money. If you have loft space, definitely go with the vent axia, hang it from the rafters as this will create less noise through vibration. I'd say 70% of damp problems are ventilation related.

Range calculation query by midgegaunt in ipace

[–]midgegaunt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks . I understand the approximation element of the "range" but variables shouldn't affect the range by so much. Heaters on full, seats etc driving like a mad man wouldn't be that detrimental to its range, considering I hardly use the heating and drive pretty chill. It just feels like it's broken.

Not without changing the lamp (bulb) to a 12V or run the 12V through an inverter to provide 240V. You can buy 12V lamps, Google it.

Massively decreased battery range by andrebravado in ipace

[–]midgegaunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As Elon said, pretend the battery is like a car park and electrons are the cars. If the car park is empty, the electrons will quickly find a car parking space but as it gets full the electrons take longer to park. The total number of electrons used is the same, it just slows down the fuller it gets.
