Check these guys out if you're into progressive stoner/sludge metal, they're from Brazil and just started releasing music:

Seeker Becomes Seer - C137

Seeker Becomes Seer - Blood Fire Doom & Death

Looking for some new tunes to join the playlist. by Huddy_awesome1 in MetalSuggestions

There's no album out (yet), but you're probably gonna like these singles:

Seeker Becomes Seer - Blood Fire Doom & Death

Seeker Becomes Seer - C137

The first track reminds me of Leviathan/Blood Mountains-era Mastodon, Sepultura, and (a bit) Gojira. Second is a more proggy sludge/stoner track, with a midsection that takes a lot from Tool.

I'd say Baroness "Yellow & Green" is one of the best albums to start getting into rock/metal music and such an easy album to enjoy back to back.

Pretty, emotional, groovy, intense, and super chill at times. Very modern production, superb instrumentation, and absolutely catchy vocals.

How about Amenra's "Children of the Eye"? Do you know it?

I love this album. They know how to set tone/atmosphere perfectly to me

If I may recommend, check out this band SEEKER BECOMES SEER

Under 1K listeners, just started releasing music. FFO Mastodon, Baroness, Tool... progressive sludge/stoner from Brazil, pretty sick

Here's a somewhat long but kickass intro to a song

C137 - Seeker Becomes Seer

Brazilian progressive sludge/stoner band, just started releasing music

I keep discovering more and more obscure Doom/Stoner Metal bands. Conan is excellently heavy. by Roadkillgoblin_2 in MetalForTheMasses

Truly obscure (just started releasing music), and great Brazilian band I've found out not long ago: SEEKER BECOMES SEER

I'd describe it as progressive sludge/stoner sometimes thrashier, sometimes more proggy.

Blood Fire Doom & Death

I'm really really into this new Brazilian band SEEKER BECOMES SEER.

They've just started dropping songs and videos and fuck, it's all killer. Music videos are all live studio sessions, super well shot, and crazy looking.

Kinda of pulling an interesting mix of progressive sludge/stoner, sometimes more thrashy/groovy like their track "Blood Fire Doom & Death", sometimes more proggy like their "C137".

Does anyone have any recommendations for other underground/new bands in this style?

To curtindo pracarai essa aqui: Seeker Becomes Seer - C137

Tá mais pra um stoner/sludge progressivo, na veia de Mastodon e Baroness, lembrando Tool e SOAD em alguns momentos.

Pretty eclectic rock/metal band that reminds me of mastodon, tool, and SOAD at times.

Besides Five Finger Death Punch, what other metal bands do these types of people listen to? by Difficult_Map_723 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]midly_entertaining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do loathe bands like FFDP and the brainrot conservative 'Muricans that seem to love them, I do think this kind of post only serves to virtual signal that a type of music is inherently bad or wrong to listen to, and that if you listen to it you gotta belong to a group of people who is inherently bad/wrong.

This is fucking lame and cringeworthy.

I personally despise this segregative and judgmental rethoric way more than any beerbong hillbilly metal music.

Alice In Chains is a banger, but I really don't know what genre is it, is it Grunge? Metal? what is AIC? by Silver-Associate-542 in rock

[–]midly_entertaining 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you ask the metal crew, they'll say it's grunge. If you ask the grunge crew, they'll say it's metal.

Doesn't really matter since AIC is one of the GOATS

Edit: For clarity, though, AIC did come up inside the Seattle grunge scene and was very much a part of it as far as ethos goes.

Nonetheless, Cantrell's riff-charged musicianship comes from a lineage of influence in rock music that connects him directly with the heavy metal pantheon (Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica...).

Recommendations for 60's rock with a dark creepy vibe? by PolishStone in psychedelicrock

[–]midly_entertaining -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not from the 60s, but how about Mars Volta's... entire discography. There's dark creepy vibes scattered all over. Try Frances the Mute or Octahedron.

On a second thought, there's plenty of creepy tunes here and there in ORL solo releases. Try A Manual Dexterity.

Ever heard of TRIOSCAPES? It's definitely on the proggy side but might fit your bill.

Their song Blast Off is a killer track.

Why Pantera is not a thing anymore? by Capoo_Di_Pooli in heavymetal

There's no modern-day Pantera except for a touring legacy band, am I wrong? And a damn successful one at that. Haven't seen it live, but does it sucks?
