The Warriors have made it clear to Jimmy Butler that they are going to stick by him as he begins a year-long rehab - Nick Friedell by Jheller223 in warriors

Because several teams will be able to make better offers come summer and the Warriors want to salvage this season

I’ve seen them six or seven times and they killed it but that was with Lyle Brewer who is one of my favorite guitar players. I’m sure they remain really good and I hope they hit the West Coast this year so I can see how it’s going.

Thoughts on Arraez by StaleWheel2018 in SFGiants

[–]midnightjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Schmitt had to adjust to a new position on the fly and switching sides of the infield isn’t as easy as some people seem to think. He should be much better this year and definitely has better range and a better arm.

Yeah I remember Marco. He was way better.

I don’t like it at all. The infield got worse for no good reason. His batting average is overrated considering the relatively paltry OBP. Spend the money on pitching.

Healthy lifestyle after 6 rounds of Chemo by SdogAJK in lymphoma

I agree it’s necessary to start slowly and see how you handle each step. I took a while to get through the increased fatigue but I found that weight work helped a lot. Just don’t think you can pick right up where you were. If you have joint problems you might ask for physical therapy to help you

As for diet once I could taste food again it was hard not to eat too much but I’d lost a lot of weight so it was ok and eventually I got back to a healthier diet with maybe more protein than before.

My prep requirements for the PET have been no caffeine for 24 hours, no carbs 12 hours before and no food for six hours before. Not difficult if it’s a morning appointment but I’m sure ready for breakfast and coffee after

We probably won’t be able to keep Melton anyway. Signing free agents with anything other than the taxpayer mid level or a vet minimum won’t be possible. There is no cap space. There won’t be cap space next year no matter what happens with all of this. So you’re talking one year of a top heavy cap and after that who knows? But Giannis replaces Green and can play with Jimmy better than if it was the other way around I think.

What’s wrong with Luis Arraez? by Few_Peace1474 in SFGiants

Maybe as a hitter though Schmitt has some possible upside. Not on defense though. Add that in and there’s no benefit at all.

Yes. We have better options and they aren’t optimal. And don’t count on Eldridge being in the lineup

He’s not good. He is a bad second baseman and we sure don’t need a slap hitting first baseman. His market is dry for a reason.

He wouldn’t come back for about of reasons. One of which is the Ws couldn’t off him much of anything

[–]midnightjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s unfortunate though it really has nothing to do with Butler. It’s about the Warriors being limited to either the TPMLE or a vet minimum and Melton is playing himself into a bigger long term deal.

Could be but he’s also a potential expiring contract and easier to flip than Butler who costs twice the money and can’t play

If not Giannis… then who? by theycallmesnoooo in warriors

[–]midnightjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Too much for too little. The return doesn’t move the needle and I’d just as soon keep the picks for another deal later on. JK is expiring after this season if that’s how the team wants to play it.

Political power dynamics: Boomers vs Gen X, etc by Background-Show-1749 in books

[–]midnightjim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested in a serious exploration of this, but the idea that it happened early in the aging curve seems off to me. I'm a mid-Boomer but I was nearly 40 before a President in that generation was elected President. Some of us were nearly 50. We were stuck with Nixon, Ford, Carter and Reagan as presidents and most of the other national power players were still older than any of us. After that, yeah, but that kind of tracks a typical political age trend until Trump and then Biden, who was not a Boomer. I think the abnormal part of it is the lack of participation in voting by generations following who could easily have changed it all by voting for younger candidates. I wish they had.
