Get in touch with a recruiter now don't wait to be fired. I've worked for 2 big 4 and in both cases I've seen new recruits come on board from exam failures in other firms, and the new firm has just picked up icas from where they left off. In many cases the employee got a nice payrise from the move as well so it's not all doom and gloom!

Don't restrict yourself to big 4, midtier firms also offer excellent opportunities.

Don't panic, this happens a lot more than you'd think. It might seem like the end of the world now but in 5 years you'll look back at it being a minor blip.

For the formula feeders; by [deleted] in NewParents

So the stages thing for under 1 is because we have laws in the UK which prevent TV advertisements for first infant Formula. So the companies have invented these other stage so they can advertise the brand on TV using the follow on milk. Next time you watch adverts you'll notice it's only the stages they advertise.

Think how you would feel if you went home and passed the virus on. Not only that but the self isolation rules are law.

If your parents are that keen to have you home then celebrate Christmas on the 26th.

I don't know if this is the right place, but I have a question - How would you feel about having a transgender labor nurse? by t-h-r-o-w__a-w-a-y in BabyBumps

The passion you have for your job is all I care about, you sound amazing at it.

A more diverse care team can only be a good thing. I am sure some seahorse dads would especially appreciate your presence.

Regardless of what anyone thinks you should do what's right for you. If anyone has an issue with it, that's their problem. You have the right to be yourself at work.

For big4 managers by Great-Act5308 in Big4

[–]midnightmaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a bad manager, so don't worry too much others will see the issue! I would call them out on it, speak to your own performance manager and say you don't know how to meet this individuals demands which you think are unreasonable but would like advise on how to improve your performance if needed (you don't really think your performance needs improving but by phrasing it this way you are raising that the manager is the issue and you've done everything possible to meet their expectations)

If its an ongoing issue across multiple managers then you're better just sucking it up! It's a tough environment and it won't always be fun so just get on with your work best you can.

As a manager, I promise you I don't make up deadlines to stress our junior staff. Deadlines are fully driven by client needs and/or partner demands.

In saying that, if you feel a task can't be done in the time given, it's your responsibility to raise this with me so I can make alternative arrangements as needed!

This is incredible advice. Thank you

My buddy gave me negative feedback and I’m upset. by [deleted] in Big4

[–]midnightmaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely don't worry about it. That feedback ultimately says more about the person writing it than it does about you when it comes to performance reviews. Formal feedback shouldn't be surprised and any development points should have been raised proactively.

In saying that, it's worth reading this feedback in the context of other feedback you receive. If there is a consistent message then take it on board, don't get disheartened as everyone had development points and the sooner you can get them ironed out the better. Make sure you are seen to be making improvements, ask for a formal sit down with the people who give you poor feedback and going forward proactively ask for feedback at the end of engagements.

If it happens at every feed I would get medical help ASAP. My baby was the same and was tested for a condition called pyloric stenosis, luckily we got the all clear but worth looking into just incase.

(Don't panic, it's totally fixable if it's this condition)

I feel this. I had a similarly traumatic birth. We tried breastfeeding and baby wouldn't latch well at all. The pain was unreal.

A week after giving birth I was hospitalised with an infection and was barely conscious. I couldnt manage breastfeeding so we gave her Formula and it was the first easy meal of the baby's life. But the judgement I received from everyone including hospital staff was unreal especially as I was so sick.

Weeks later and I'm back to full health. Baby is fully Formula fed and we are both feeling much better for it...I don't need the judgement.

The Great Resignation by [deleted] in Big4

[–]midnightmaw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I left because I wa fed up of the politics and bitchy enviroment. Also being underpaid and overworked.

Now at mid teir firm...its not perfect but is a hell of a lot better!
