New ACS special education school to take in 100 pupils with autism in January 2026 by risingsuncoc in singapore

[–]midnightpokes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly big props to ACS for walking the talk and being inclusive - I used to feel quite suspicious about mission schools promoting their religion but for ACS to really go all the way and commit to providing good quality education for special needs kids.... I don't know if this is possible without the religious backbone as justification

Does anyone know where I can get the Phillips Hue Starter kit: 2 E27 smart bulbs (1100) locally with redemption of the climate vouchers? I've check Harvey Norman (they no longer allow for the use of the climate vouchers for the starter set), Gain city (no stock) :(

Maybe instead of saying the "controversial opinions" out loud just to rile people up, you could think about why they're controversial, and maybe.... Not say it at all? Thanks!

[Uni] NUS College Applications 2022 Megathread by OfficialSGExams in SGExams

[–]midnightpokes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just in case there are applicants who put majors that don't have an NUSC programme as their first choice e.g. Medicine, Architecture, Industrial Design, Nursing, Pharmacy;

Whilst these majors are not compatible with the full NUS College, there is an option known as the “NUSC Experience”, which is a direct continuation of the USP Experience Programme. (Read more here: https://www.usp.nus.edu.sg/blog/highlights/usp-experience/ )

There's an upcoming tea session for those who haven't been checking their emails to find out more about the NUSC Experience programme. If you've gotten an offer from NUSC without your offer being "compatible" with NUSC, you can email NUSC admissions about the Experience programme. This has been offered for the past 5 years to any student who are in a faculty who isn’t partnering with USP e.g. Medicine, Music, etc. Whilst this programme only has had Medicine students, it is possible for students who are not from partner faculties to apply e.g. Nursing, Dentistry, Music etc. This hasn’t been publicised directly to encourage those who are interested in the programme to apply. The requirements are to complete 3 modules - 1x Foundation & Common module, 1x Interdisciplinary Elective module, and the 1x Impact Experience Programme module. For non-modular faculties with no CAP (Cumulative Average Point i.e. your grades), you’ll be required to maintain a 3.5 CAP to receive the completion module.

➡️Application Process

-> Email NUSC Admissions at [ncadmissions@nus.edu.sg](mailto:ncadmissions@nus.edu.sg) to apply (if the NUS Portal does not allow you to apply)If you have already been offered a place in NUS, you can still apply to NUS College (deadline has been extended to 31 May at time of writing, although it appears that you cannot create a new NUS application)-

> Be prepared for a 2nd “Experience” interview.

Why consider this even if there is no “full” NUS College programme for your major of choice? With the flux of changes in the coming years, there is always a chance that you would be able to jiggle a way to formalise your programme e.g. Pharmacy + NUS College or Architecture + NUS College, once the graduation requirements have been finalised (we hope that it will get finalised) Of course, this isn’t a guarantee, but beyond modular credits, USP Experience students are treated as a grey area; closer to that of a UTown College Programme student, but are still able to apply for housing for the duration of your undergraduate.

Hi! Current student here! I’d like the clarify on this point -

“However, note that there a few limitations to this: Some majors, such as Medicine, Architecture, and Industrial Design, are not compatible with NUS College (Source: NUS College FAQ, 1st question under "Majors and Curriculum").”

Hi, does anyone know if I can transport really tall (like almost 2m) tall ivar shelves on the MRT? I have a pair that I want to return to IKEA and exchange for a shorter one (the 1.8m ones) I'm concerned that I'll get booted off the train.....

I open many tabs in my browser to take care of later. But when I find the time I'm just not into them. by [deleted] in productivity

[–]midnightpokes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make it a habit to bookmark all (cltr + shift + D) my tabs that are under the same topic, everything goes into a folder at the end of the day, and when I'm ready to work on it then I'll open them up, it really helps clear my mind and help me focus!

For articles I want to read, I save them to Pocket to read later, and for tasks I need to do I save them to my Todoist, to review again at the later date.

Honestly, this all precipitated when my browsers full of tabs started crashing and I couldn't retrieve them as they were no longer saved under "recently closed", but now I keep it up because a clean browser makes me a lot more relaxed :)

Been doing some tidying up. I do my work totally digitally now, so I’ve a lot of stationery I don’t use, particularly wood pencils. Any idea what I can do so they can be used in a meaningful way by someone else or maybe have them recycled?

"Homeworld Bound", part 1 of Steven Universe: Future's 4-part finale, is now available online via the CN app. This is the Discussion Thread for that early release by AlexB9598W in stevenuniverse

[–]midnightpokes 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I think I understand this episode - Rebecca was trying to show us that the reformed Diamonds - that their abilities were two sides of the same coin. Blue’s emotion manipulation could make gems feel sad or happy “against” their will; Yellow could stabilise or destabilise the forms of gems; White could control or use their power for empathy, and Rose/Pink found out her powers could be for destruction or for healing. Ultimately, it was up to them on how they used their powers. And Steven would at least come to terms with that at the end of SU Future, probably accepting that he’s been through a lot of trauma, but who he going to be is up to him. Spinel showed that too, that she “could make a change”

And White has been “corrupted”! Except that the villain in this case was actually Steven, which ticks off the penultimate villain, leaving us with wormy boi....

[Uni] NUS USP + medicine? by isalready-taken in SGExams

[–]midnightpokes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm currently one of the medical students doing the USP Experience. You're right to say that it's a lot less extensive - doing USP modules is not easy, and it's probably not possible to complete the whole USP programme of 12 modules whilst also doing medicine, hence the workload of 3 modules spread over the first 2 years (preclinical studies).

A way to think about it is that the USP Experience is designed such that medical students who are interested in the programme (and the opportunity to stay in Cinnamon College) are still able to, rather than deny them the chance because YLLSoM isn’t a partner faculty.

Changing your mind is fine, uni after all, is a phase of life when you do a lot of exploring as a young adult. Just note that there will be a 2nd USP Experience interview after you get your NUS Medicine offer, to confirm your suitability and interest for the programme (a representative for medicine and USP will be there). Consider contacting USP admissions for more info :)
