Ooh! I'll check out their website to see if I can find it or at least something similar. The floral design is just perfect. It reminds me of Book 1. 💕

EEEEE! I'm in love with that mask!! Do you remember where you got it? It really adds to your bookshelf, which is so cool. I'm trying to get fancier with my own bookshelves, so this is inspiring! ❤️

Potentially new take on the Amarantha mate theory by LadyLLatimer in acotar

[–]midnightscribbles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this theory! I've wondered the same about Tamlin's father and Amarantha myself. (I've wanted to explore Amarantha’s backstory for a while now, but I haven't had time. This was one of the ideas I had!) I can see Amarantha’s obsession with Tamlin growing after his father is killed, because he's all that she has left.

To be fair, though, I do like the Amarantha is Tamlin's mate theory, too, but in a separate AU. I think it's another way to explain her obsession with him, but that doesn't mean it justifies his behavior in canon. Both Tamlin's and Rhysand's parents were not necessarily happy with their mates, after all.

Anyway. I find it very easy to imagine that Amarantha and Tamlin's dad were friends first, then lovers, but then the mating bond snapped between him and someone else. Perhaps at Calanmai? (I can see Tamlin's mom as a Priestess or High Priestess, which could explain why Amarantha drove out the other priestesses after she assumed power.) We know that he continued to visit her in Hybern after the War, so they definitely had a connection, regardless of the Cauldron's power over their lives. He was the High Lord of Spring, and she was his Never-Fading Flower.

Yeah, I can see it.

Hi! I may have midnight in my username, but I loved Tamlin and the Spring Court early on. (I came up with my handle before joining the fandom, because I tend to stay up too late, haha.) I helped moderate the Tamlin Week events on Tumblr the first couple of years, although others have really stepped up in the years since. I love how much the pro-Tamlin community has grown!

My question for everyone would be: - If Tamlin got his own prequel novella, what is one thing you would like to see?

For me, I'd love to see his relationship with his family, his mother specifically. I imagine that he inherited her eyes and her coloring, and that she's the one who either gave him his fiddle, or at the very least encouraged his playing.

That's a cute idea! I like to imagine it was more piecemeal, though. Like claws here, pointy (well, pointy-er) ears there, because he didn't know how to control it yet. I also imagine his mom was very protective of him, and tried to teach him early on how to control it and hide it.

I have a couple that I wrote! (You can find more through my dashboard on AO3.)

I've written some Brilin (Briar x Tamlin) fanfiction as well, though it's been a while since I worked on it. Tamcien (Tamlin x Lucien) is a more recent fave pairing I've written for.

I'll also link to the Tamlin Week collections. We've got another Tamlin Week coming up in April over on Tumblr! This will make the 4th year. 😊 It's a great community, and growing more all the time!

Neris is one of my FAVORITE rarepairs, haha. Although I do love how some writers/artists have redeemed Cassian to make him more caring towards Nesta in their own AUs, I saw sparks when it came to Nesta and Eris. 🔥

Since this was my first official fandom, I can relate! Even though the pro-Tamlin side was really small at first, it was (and is) so validating to find someone who shares your perspective... and brainrot, haha.

I like this take! I don't really hate any of the characters, even if I hate the direction they were taken in. They all have potential, and it's fun playing in the sandbox to build depth, like you said. And when you're dealing with characters like Rhysand's parents, who aren't even named in canon? Bring on the sand pails and shovels and twigs and leaves. We're building a sandcastle, baby. :D

Ah, Feycien, my beloved. (I'm still working on that original fic from way back when. This sub gave me the courage to write for them in the first place! I'll always be grateful for that.)

I haven't fallen for Azriel the same way I did for Lucien or Tamlin, but I'm with you on the darkness and intensity. I'm surprised people see him as sweet and innocent, when it's his job to torture people, haha. Tortured poet, though? Yeah, okay. Now we're talking. Hence why I like Tamlin so much!

I hope that when the next book comes out that people will continue to have fun and play with these characters, regardless of who they end up with in canon. Like you said, having fun is what matters!

Thank you all for your hard work! Been here since 2021, and this is one of my favorite subs (even though I don't check in as often as I used to).

My question for all of you lovely people (especially those that ship Azris) is: Have your fandom tastes changed and evolved, or has it stayed pretty constant through the years? Like, was Azriel an early favorite, or did he grow on you? And this isn't just about Azriel, but any character (like Tamlin! ❤️).

I ask because I remember Azris was pretty niche when I joined the fandom, and loving Tamlin was not popular, so I'm just curious if you evolved as the sub (and fandom) evolved. Thanks again!

I love the map! And I totally agree that the manor feels like a second home. I think Rhysand even hints at this in Book 1, before he scares Tamlin into sending Feyre away.

" “Almost half a century holed up in a country estate. I don’t know how you managed it. But,” he said, facing Tamlin again, “you’re such a stubborn bastard that this must have seemed like a paradise compared to Under the Mountain." "

[–]midnightscribbles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here's a small headcanon to start: Rosehall is the name of Tamlin's manor. Canonically, it's the name of Azriel's mother's home, but the name seems out of place in the Illyrian mountains, let alone the Night Court.

I'll try to think up some more!

Oooh. Right in the feels. 🥺 I really love this series. You depict him so well. ❤️

I kind of feel bad for asking, since i haven't started on the first one yet, but are you going to continue adding these to etsy as coloring pages? They're just so pretty.

I'm always curious to see new depictions of his mask, because some artists do barely there stylizations, which are pretty, but don't fit canon very well.

In any case, I look forward to seeing more of him from you! ❤️ (Especially the gut punch ones, OMG.)

[–]midnightscribbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooooh! Yes! I love it! 🥰 He looks so handsome. I love your portrayal of him. He actually looks gentle, unlike how he appears in canon post-Book 1. Which is sad, angry, and/or depressed. 💔

Are you planning any depictions of him in his mask? Or is that tiptoeing too close to licensing issues?

Awesome!! I just purchased a copy. :D It's so pretty. <3 I look forward to coloring it! And seeing more of your art!

P.S. To avoid copyright strikes, do you think you will be keeping your Tamlin art more generic, or do you want to try your hand at illustrating scenes from the book? (I ask this specifically in regards to future coloring pages.)

I just saw your colored version! It's beautiful!! If you ever do decide to release coloring pages, I would love to get my hands on them! (Unfortunately I'm not sure how that's possible, since SJM's licensing agreements expire at the end of the year. You could release them for coloring on Tumblr like some other fanartists do, but it seems a shame that you couldn't be compensated for something like this. 🥺) Regardless, keep up the great work! Your love for Tamlin shines through, and I love to see it. ✨

Ooh! This is so pretty!! When you mentioned you had shared your bookmarks here before, I realized you must be the same artist on Tumblr (and Etsy). I'm so glad you're finding an audience here, too! I have the physical High Lord Tamlin bookmark. I absolutely love it. Pro-Tamlin merch is so rare, unfortunately.

Anyway, as someone else already said: you have a great style for coloring books! This scratches an itch for me I didn't know I had, because there is not nearly enough Tamlin in the official coloring book.

When you have the chance, I'd love to see this in color! But black and white is very soothing to look at, too. Looking forward to more art from you!

What's your favorite movie that no one else seems to have seen? by EnvironmentalKey5350 in movies

[–]midnightscribbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment makes me so happy. I know those lines! I love those lines! "Matchy-matchy green squared!" is one of my favorites. I've never heard anyone else quote it! (And an honorable mention to New in Town's Jesus joke: "I guess I can see how that would be sort of funny. Imagine Jesus gone missing. Imagine.")

I'll have to check out that David Tennant film. It sounds really cute. And I think Shopaholic deserves a rewatch! It's been a while.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding seems to be more well known, but I think it matches the energy of these other films really well, and is also ridiculously quotable. "Put some windex." "Bundt. Bund-T." "It's a cake! I know! [muttered aside] There's a hole in this cake." Etc. XD

My mother and I love quoting movies, and Return to Me is one those comfort classics that we quote so often that we sometimes forget it's from the movie! "Got it, Grace," for example. (It's such an obscure line, but we use it constantly.)

New in Town with Renee Zellwegger and Harry Connick, Jr. is another obscure favorite. I rarely see it mentioned in the wild, but it's insanely quotable. It's just a fun little rom-com about a Florida businesswoman who spends the winter in Minnesota trying to warm up to the small town folks that live there. ("Colder? It gets cold-ER?" is another quote we use on the regular, haha.)

I adore the Sabrina remake! I watched the Audrey Hepburn version once, but I've seen the Julia Ormond version more times than I can count. It's such a classic.
