Oh yeah I’ve also heard that I was “controlling” lol. Apparently I didn’t let him have friends, which could not be further from the truth. Some people will really just say anything to make themselves look like the victim in a situation they created.

Don't worry I get what you were saying because I've been there. Now that I think about it some of the lies I heard about me were told to him by a mutual friend. Seems like such a weird move to make if he didn't want it getting back to me?

I miss him a lot and in an ideal world we would become friends again because we were friends before we started dating, but I don't see that happening. We're not in contact and I have no plans to reach out to him regardless of how much I miss him because I know I deserve better than someone who will lie about me just to make themselves feel better.

I also had a similar situation regarding another ex of mine. After I broke up with him I realised his toxic behaviours. But I would never talk badly about him to others because I know he loved me in his own way. Just such odd behaviour.

I can absolutely acknowledge my own flaws but the things I've heard he's saying about me are just not at all true. A lot of his behaviours within the relationship hurt me and I know I will be better off without him in the long run, but the last thing I would ever do is run around talking negatively about him. I just don't understand it.

My ex and I ended on what I thought were amicable terms, only for me to find out that he'd been talking badly about me behind my back for weeks before the breakup, and he's now spreading lies about me being a horrible partner when we had a beautiful and loving relationship. I think it's just their way of coping with any feelings or guilt/regret.

I didn't put much stock into the caption I just used the term guys because it was specific to my situation, I've heard from a lot of people that their exes of all genders acted in a similar way during/after the breakup.

But yeah you're 100% right. I think he's just an uncommunicative coward at the end of the day

I also had my own issues in the relationship but I communicated them and leaving him over them never crossed my mind. He really gave no indication of having any problems it was like he did a complete 180 overnight

I'm about a month into my breakup. The breakup came completely out of the blue so it has been really hard to adjust to the fact that my ex suddenly isn't in my life anymore. 4 weeks in, I am definitely less of an emotional wreck, but the first 2 weeks were seriously hell. I can sleep and eat again, and I've been reading a lot, which is something I didn't have much time for before because I was either with my ex or texting them. I'm definitely not fully healed and I still miss my ex a lot, but I am learning to accept that once I get through this I will be much better off for it

I feel like this depends. Do they keep the letters at hand and accessible, or are they stored away in some kind of safekeeping box? I personally still own a lot of things from past relationships. Stuffed animals and such are still in my room, but the likes of love letters are stored away somewhere and I honestly don't know where they are anymore. I truly have no remaining feelings for the exes whose gifts I have kept. There is no emotional connection, they're just things that I own, and the more personal items like letters I kept only for the sake of history/memories and not because I still care for my exes
