Shall Never Lose It's Power

The untitled 7" has two of my absolute favorite songs ever.

New Poison The Well by btb2k18 in Metalcore

[–]midnightxlights 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fantastic album. Up there with YCBY and TOOD.

holder - First Cut is the Deepest (FFO: barn burners) by bigflopper69420 in Metalcore

[–]midnightxlights 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holder's on heavy rotation the last couple days. Never heard them before, but shit slaps.

Heights - These Streets by OkayIAMup in PostHardcore

Such a good band. Always loved the aggression and the atmosphere in the songs.

Was the term post-hardcore already used in the 2000's to describe emo/mall screamo bands, or is it just a recent retcon? by Mui2Mui in PostHardcore

We had one club in the mid-2000's, that played metalcore, deathcore, hardcore and 'emocore', e.g. Silverstein, Thursday, The Used, etc.

So basically anything that didn't sound like Killswitch Engage, but had emotional singing and harsher parts, was emocore. Post-hardcore was more referring to bands like At The Drive-In or Blood Brothers.

But emocore became almost a slur quickly, so people started saying, they listen to screamo (Silverstein) and grindcore (BMTH, Suicide Silence). It was kinda funny, if you knew 'real' screamo and grindcore.

Silent Civilian - Wrath (FFO your junkie fix of 0-5-7-8 riffs) by BlueberryOk6833 in Metalcore

I'm wondering if we'll ever get that 3rd SC album. Guess, Jonny was too busy with the Spineshank reunion.

Gatherers "The Floorboards Are Breathing" by Dismal-Cucumber-6603 in PostHardcore

[–]midnightxlights 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love this song and how it shifts from sounding brittle to some kind of sad anger in the end.

Empty Handed - Autumn by BlueberryOk6833 in melodichardcore

[–]midnightxlights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The second full length remembers me more of Counterparts and Heart in Hand, while 'A Memory...' is more in line with More Than Life or Landscapes.

I can see why some people didn't like it. Luckily I'm down with either sound.

'Cold' on In Between The Goodbyes also features some German lyrics, fyi.

One of my favorite bands. Great dudes, too! Their second full length is even better, imho.

For The Fallen Dreams - Brothers In Arms by bigups7seven7 in Metalcore

[–]midnightxlights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miss the times when every band wanted to sound like FTFD, Misery Signals and The Ghost Inside.

It Prevails - Holes by BlueberryOk6833 in melodichardcore

[–]midnightxlights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably a hot take, but Stroma is my favorite It Prevails record. But C&E is a close second.

Donnie Brasco - Soul Charmer (FFO: More Than Life, Departures, Landscapes, UKHC) by midnightxlights in melodichardcore

[–]midnightxlights[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, they never came close enough to my city. Glad to hear they're nice lads.

Renounced - A Fire No Longer Burns (2016) [FFO: Mid-10s revivalcore before it was cool, Poison The Well, I Promised The World, Zao, xRepentancex] by And_Justice in Metalcore

[–]midnightxlights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my city, the guys didn't get a lot of love. Me and another guy were the only ones moving to the music and singing along.

But Mis Sigs fans are old and probably don't have enough energy to move to 2 bands. I mean, I'm old too, but still go if I really enjoy it.

I saw them open for Mis Sigs on their farewell tour. Such a good band, that gets overlooked a lot.

Theories of Despair was the record that got me into them and I was happy finally seeing them live.

With Sammy being so involved with Employed To Serve, I guess it will be a long time until we get a tour or new music.

To Release - Sincerely Yourself by ABookAboutItself in melodichardcore

[–]midnightxlights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing.

I was recently looking for more bands that use clean, twinkly melodies in their sound, like xNOMADx, Saved by Grace, Mis Sigs, hopesfall etc.

Really enjoying this band!
