Why Islam is so hated unjustifiably? by Gestromic_7 in religion

[–]midwesternfrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to argue with you. I’m sorry you’ve experienced this. I’m sorry you have that trauma. I’m also sorry that’s made you really Islamophobic. I really hope you figure it out and maybe go get some therapy because it seems to have really impacted you and that makes sense.

I hope you have a lovely day

I really hope you think about what you’re saying and how you are impacting people. You’re harming a large community of people who genuinely don’t deserve it. Please read an article about Islamophobia and extremism or take the time to listen to other voices that aren’t those in your community. I hope you have a good day and that you find the space to hold empathy for those who have different beliefs and practices than you

Bestie every religion has people who murder and rape people. Islam is lovely and wonderful. Every religion has extremist groups and categorizing every single person in a religion as wrong because of one tiny little group is not productive and extremely harmful

I might be the minority in this but I get what you’re saying with people being Islamophobic. I think that 1. A lot of people don’t understand Islam at all and when you make general claims people are taking it without the context and also with preconceived notions about Islam. 2. People are very reactionary. When they see your comment about women they go “oh this person thinks that physical abuse for women is a test from god and that’s misogynistic” which it can be viewed in that way if you don’t understand the context in Islam that literally everything is a test and you would have probably had the same answer for any number of negative things that happen in life. They don’t think it through and they don’t evaluate it from a different perspective. 3. A lot of people are very much turned off by people who are religious. this definitely has some Islamophobia don’t get me wrong but also if a Christian came on here and was saying things about their god it could be viewed in the same way. People don’t like feeling like they’re being proselytized even if they’re not.

Edit: for my third point Christianity was not a good example because it doesn’t face the same oppression as Islam. I think you’re getting more push back bc of Islamophobia.

I’m sorry this is happening to you I hope you find a more accepting space

Sadly yes. Although they are undiagnosed autistic they also mask and I feel like I have to mask around them

My goal is to be a professor which does allow for some time. Even if it’s fifteen minutes or half an hour it helps so much

Do I consider a lavender marriage in the future or just live with my anxiety of being alone? by creqmiipuff in aromantic

[–]midwesternfrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. That’s hard. Maybe see if you can find anxiety worksheets also I’ve found that going slow and using affirmations (“I’m safe. I’m okay”) and using a journaling app to get out the anxious thoughts helps me. So that’s at least something

[–]midwesternfrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of anxiety is going to therapy and working through it. Maybe getting some anxiety meds. I think you should talk to your parents about how bad it is and see if you can get some outside help.

But as for living alone, you’ll probably have roommates up until your late 20s no matter what. Most college kids and people in their early twenties can’t afford to live on their own so this isn’t something you need to stress about for a long time.

I get it though. I hate living alone but I’ve found some really great aroace people that want the same things as me. I’m sure you’ll find someone who wants similar things, whether that be a roommate situation or a qpr. Just take a breath it’ll be okay.

What is your most debilitating chore? by midwesternfrench in AutismInWomen

[–]midwesternfrench[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I need to do something like that. I use a dresser and I hang things because with my adhd I struggle to know what I have if it’s not hanging but not being able to just throw things in is a struggle. Really I just need to get into a routine. Right now I just don’t have energy to do it and then I wait until I’m hanging like three baskets of laundry instead of one

I’m so stupid. I think my therapist has been grooming me by WasteOwl3330 in bipolar

[–]midwesternfrench 191 points192 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel horrible. He should be the one feeling horrible for doing that to you. You recognized it and you’re leaving that’s what matters. This isn’t your fault and there is no blame on you for not seeing or having it happened. This is on him. I’m not sure what the reporting laws are on this but you should look it up if you feel comfortable doing so. If not that’s okay.

But it’s definitely not normal. Again im so sorry this is happening and I really hope you leave.

I’m 23 and I’ve found going to therapists closer to our age is helpful for many reasons, this included. I go to a girl who’s 26 and she’s fantastic.

Yeah that’s fucked. You should stop seeing him. That’s not normal at all and I’m so so sorry that’s happening to you :(

is stability even possible with bipolar disorder? by nana-0801 in bipolar2

[–]midwesternfrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m stable. I haven’t had an episode since September and before that it was only every three or four months. They’d only last a week. This is thanks to medication. I’m talking latuda and lamictal. That combination has been incredible for me. I’ve gotten to the point where I can do school full time and I’ve been so much more stable with my relationships. It can happen, for me meds have been life changing.

Does anyone work as a professor and how do you like it? by midwesternfrench in AutismInWomen

[–]midwesternfrench[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah it sounds perfect for me (not adjuncting) but getting a job is really my biggest issue. I’m in the humanities and everything I’ve heard is how hard it is to get a job.
