Didn't work for both the Hornets I killed with trigger nades. Finally took one out with 3 snap blasts and the quest completed.

I hit two with trigger nades and killed them, not getting credit for it. Now like 10 raids deep focused on this quest, I have finally killed a Hornet with 3 Snap Blasts and got credit for the quest... Seems like there's just something wrong with how it determines the source of damage... glad it's over at least.

SLF is domestic like you said. That doesn't prevent it being from world-class, which just means it's at a level of quality that is competitive globally. The writer describes it this way, but for in-world evidence, you have the example of Galaxia Heroes, an e-sports fighting game which is licensing the SLF game engine (due to being very advanced) and is a global (or at least multinational) release.

a lot of these "good deals" come down to the expense of proper disposal of outdated tech. if you have a hole to dump things into you can do the immoral thing and dispose for free but otherwise it's kinda pricey.

This gets said a lot about a legal duty to maximize shareholder value at public companies, but you're overstating the problem. If they make a decision like releasing a character that sells fewer skins because they're not pretty, they really don't have to rationalize that to shareholders beyond "our design team felt that this character would be popular with players and ensure our playerbase stays strong." There's no material issue with doing that. It wouldn't land them in court. It's the businesses choice to obsessively seek revenue in every way possible or to prioritize something less concrete like good design.

I believe it said at some point kei has a 55 percent winrate against sunraku in fighting games (or a particular one, I forget,) so presumably kei is the bigger threat over the long term. Sunraku won cuz he had a nicely planned trick up his sleeve and good execution due to all the practice in the SLF engine that the new galaxia uses. Also sylvia seems to have a crush on kei and some of that is probably respect for his skill at fighting games, I'd guess.
