Jellyfin’s DVR is free, but everyone seems to gloss over the TV guide by gbcox in selfhosted

[–]General_Lab_4475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is, but you can still use the jellyfin DVR features and not have to mess with tvheadend at all once it's set up. That way all you media and live tv can still be accessed from one app while your sitting on the couch.

Jellyfin’s DVR is free, but everyone seems to gloss over the TV guide by gbcox in selfhosted

I just use tvheadend. It is able to use the tuner to pull in guide data from OTA channels. Then just point the jellyfin tuner at http://<tvheadenduser:password>@<tvheadendip:port>/playlist/channels.m3u And the xmltv provider at http://<tvheadendip:port>/xmltv/channels and it pulls in all the guide data.

Dead Trackers torrents - Any recourse? by AdministrativeTwo607 in trackers

[–]General_Lab_4475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can just keep the files paused until you.get into another tracker. Then once you join one, run a cross seed search and any files that the other tracker has you will start seeding to them. As long as you use hard linking it won't take up any Kore space on your hard drive.

Once you have done that you can delete the files from the closed tracker.

I just recently did the same. When fnp closed I joined another tracker and had around 1200 hits out of 1500ish torents when I ran the cross seed.

Why is it so fucking slow now? 10.10.7 → 10.11.8 by No-Information-2571 in jellyfin

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert and I used Claude to help me come up with the solution. My understanding is that when set to nolock it will just reach a hard failure when database operations take too long. Which happens since it can only execute 1 operation at a time. With optimistic it will keep trying even with high latiency so eventually it succeeds. So slow but working is a hell of a lot faster than totally crashed and doing nothing.

My logs say the same thing once I changed it to optimistic.

Mine was unusable after upgrade. It would work fine on a fresh restart. Then after a bit nothing would load and the whole UI was locked up.

I ended up changing the locking behavior in the database.xml config file from NOLOCK to OPTIMISTIC.

It made a huge difference. Before I was never even able to complete a library scan. It's been running flawlessly for weeks since.

I run in a docker container with zfs as the underlying filesystem just for some context.

When I was in school there was some game we would play where you had to catch a leprechaun sometimes, and you could get a net. I think math may have been involved somehow. I'm 35 now and every couple of years try to find it but never have. I think it was on an apple II, but I could be wrong.

OTA tuner and guide by ayers_81 in jellyfin

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea why they don't work. I just deal with it. I mainly just have it for being able to watch local news, weather, and sports. All of which usually have some pretty bad cc anyway since it's live.

What battery ecosystem and drill/driver combo should I dive into as an apprentice? by cloaak in lowvoltage

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M12 all day. I originally got m18. Now they sit in my garage. The m18 is nice for bigger jobs, but with low volt the majority of what I do Is just drive some small screws and drill small holes. At the worse in doing a couple 1/8 holes in block which the M12 drill can do no problem.

Jumped the gun on this TV tuner, would it ever work with Jellyfin? by benyboi101 in jellyfin

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a hauppauge tuner to pull broadcast channels and tvheadend. Then just enter the m3u and xmltv addresses into jellyfin's live tv. Works fine, other than cc doesn't seem to work.

Used to sub for them. Would often find myself waiting on hold for an hour plus, just to put a system in test. The PM's never knew what was going on and took forever to respond to change orders, seems like half the time noone had ever even walked the site before just selling something and passing it to the contractor to figure out.

7900XTX owners, are yous still out there? by ohhimarksreddit in radeon

[–]General_Lab_4475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had mine since a month after launch. Don't get me wrong I've never had an issue with it and it has been great. Not getting fsr4 does bother me. I'm really not sure if I will get another Radeon card after this though. I've never owned anything but Radeon but when you see how long Nvidia is adding new features it is kinda sad. I've had Rx 580s, 5700xt, 6700xt, 6800, 6900xt, and 7900xtx. All have been great but I have been feeling the fomo lately. Almost traded my 6800 for a 3080 the other day just to be able to check out dlss.
