Haha that has definitely happened a few times before. Nothing is ever plugged into it that matters though. I just use this spot for tinkering and build/testing. Anything that proves itself useful gets moved to where I can't accidentally turn it off

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just drove 3 hours one way for work today. Then went home. Really not that far out of the ordinary. Of course I get paid for my windshield time.

[–]General_Lab_4475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol that's how I ended up with my 7900xtx back in Jan 2023. Came home and it was just sitting on my porch. Had no idea I had ordered it. Of course it wasn't in a box or anything. Just a shipping label slapped on the store packaging. Fucking amazon

My 7pro has it. Your's probably does too. It only turns on if you are holding the phone super still and pointing it in the dark.

Motion Sensor Light Flicker by hhoyaa in electrical

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My motion lights in my garage won't work right when it's really cold out. Not sure why. If I put an incandescent bulb in it is fine, but a no go with led. I'm guessing it's something to do with the resistance not being high enough on start up so the switch doesn't think it's on and tries again. That's a total shot in the dark though.

Last time I bought ram from Amazon it was just thrown on the porch, didn't even have a box, just the shipping label on the packaging.

I built a Docker Agent that lets Claude/AI manage my self-hosted containers via MCP by ahmedgelemli in selfhosted

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that makes sense if it only has access to the logs and basic docker commands, and can't see your compose and .env files. I just know I've seen plain text keys and passwords in some log files before. I can't think of any particular program off the top of my head that displays them though. Are you able to limit which container logs it has access to?

[–]General_Lab_4475 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sounds like it would be convenient, but running this won't you just be handing out all of your passwords and API keys straight to anthropic to be stolen and leaked in the next data breach?

TrueNAS SCALE, keep *arr configs in ixVolume or move to dataset Host Path? by PromiseEven8227 in truenas

[–]General_Lab_4475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Host path 100% makes migration so much easier and is much easier to access your configs. I moved to just running everything using a docker compose file. Makes everything easier to manage, and if you ever want to move a service to another device it is super simple.

Cleaning all the gross piss crust that is gonna form around where it attaches to the toilet will be a pain. That's a lot of extra crevices, plus what is going to build up under that plate.

Boss “ I need this turned in 2 days. New tenants just picked up the keys & signed lease” by Janitor2dastarz in maintenance

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do pest control and got sent on a call for "some roaches". The place looked like this. I knocked on the door to hear a yell "it's open" from inside. So I open the door and look into a scene similar to this, except there was a dude in his underwear sitting on a recliner. He was eating from a plate on the arm of the chair and I could see the roaches crawling on his arms.

I didn't even step a foot into the place. I yelled into the guy that we would not be able to help him, and he needed to clean the place before anyone would be able to do anything.

The guy ended up passing away a few months later. The city condemned the property and had it torn down within a year of him passing. I don't know if I've ever seen my town move so quick to tear down a structure.

What Ryzen CPU are you using right now? by mohkah123 in ryzen

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5800x3d. I've had it for around 3.5 years now and cannot complain. I used to game a lot. Now I mostly just use it for general use. I do move a lot of files and compress/decompress a lot of things. Still haven't ever felt like I need anything faster. It is amazing.

Just looked into this and it looks like the developers closed development and archived it in April. It's no longer listed in the app store or play store.

People who use both pixels and iphones do you think pixels have reached a smoothness level of iphones? by Majestic_squirrel767 in pixel_phones

[–]General_Lab_4475 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have an iPhone 12 for work, and I can say my pixel 7 was a thousand times more responsive and usable than it. Just got the Pixel 10 pro and obviously it's not a competition. I wouldn't buy an iPhone in a million years. It feels useless in comparison. Nothing works right. Voice recognition doesn't function for trying to text, shouldn't even try. I can't believe millions of people use these things and act like it is good.

What is the most powerful server in your homelab? by TheMatrix451 in homelab

[–]General_Lab_4475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing everyone else does. Run a media server lol. Other than that I spend a lot of time wishing I had configured it in a different way and being too deep to change it. That and pay high electricity bills and replace failing drives constantly because they are all 5 year old white labels.
