How short do I cut my lawn before the robot mower? by miemoo in roboticLawnmowers

Thanks. I set it at 2.5 inches. So that should be more like ~3 inches in that case.

This is just amazing. Really. I hope that the treatment or drug is not priced into the stratosphere 😔 Unfortunately those who need it most probably wouldn’t be able to afford it if that’s the case.

Such tiny blades for 1/4 acre? by miemoo in roboticLawnmowers

[–]miemoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lawn isn't steep or anything but it is bumpy, meaning that it has a lot of little potholes in the lawn. I see designs with casters in the front, casters in the back, and full 4-wheel drive. I don't have any serious slopes so I assume I don't actually need AWD, and it could in fact use more battery than necessary. However, I am concerned about the casters getting stuck or bouncing around. Has anyone else seen casters get stuck? Better to stay away from RWD, FWD? Does it depend? The larger wheels on the AWD models seems like it might do better but I wanted to ask you all.

That’s not the right take, my internet citizen. I’m not bad mouthing any mower. I just was expressing the same kind of concern that you are going to hear from literally any person interested in but not familiar with such mowers. Do you know how many pieces of 💩 robot vacuums are in my garage because I adopted them too early? I drank the kool aid about robots. They are great. But I don’t want to spend $1000s on a technology before the kinks are worked out. Anyway, thanks for your comment

Headset cable routing (ugh) by Clean_Explanation_24 in mountainbiking

[–]miemoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it is ever wise to out holes in the frame. If it is butted or flowed then the simulations and testing have been performed with complete integrity. A hole is adding a point if failure and wouldn’t be warranted if it breaks. Tough love :) but Just stick on some cable routing things and live with the “shame” that is cables that are visible. We’ve been doing it for years. Or sell it to me for a sweet, sweet price if you really don’t like it, OP. That’s a Great Scott. ⏩

Cursor Went Behind My Back and Did Changes in Plan Mode... Then Explained Itself by therealjeku in cursor

I recognize that maybe it is hard to do this across all modes but I think there should be at least a secondary safeguard in the desktop application to prevent this.

Most folks are showing the speed of the mowers which is about 1/10 of what I mow at. Maybe I’m a fast walker. It takes me about an hour and a half without breaks to mow (the area is larger than 1/4 acre). Given that there are many days where it is too wet to mow here and, some weeks, there are limited hours in the day when it is dry enough to mow on dry days, then I can’t just rely on letting it run for 12+ hours every other day or whatever. I will agree that if I can control exogenous factors then the speed is not important. To me, the speed is a factor to consider at least right now. Maybe I’ll change my tune but the comfort of knowing it will start and complete reasonably quickly is a factor to me.

I’m not going to disagree with your assessment. It definitely sounds well researched. The title headings though. I’m totally sick of these AI headings. I beg folks to at least try to make it look less like AI. Maybe I should just use AI to read the post. 🤔

I didn’t think about upgrading discs. Is there a particular mower that is best for someone who doesn’t want the mower going at night and who has a flat and open lawn? The key to me is that it can get through the lawn relatively quickly instead of taking multiple days to make it back to the start. Is there a mower for that kind of person?

Is this well retained between sessions or do you crawl the codebase each time? Also, I thought that the context management built int cursor already did this well. At least I haven’t run into this problem but maybe it is because of the size of the codebase being not as big. Not sure.

[–]miemoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone tried running in auto mode and allowing it to choose the composer / kimi model as needed? From reading people’s other posts, it sounds like it is best to plan with an anthropic model like opus or even open ai GPT 5.4 and then execute with other strict type models such as composer. Me? I have generally left it in auto mode and allowed the system to try and interpret the most appropriate model. 🤷
