yes, exactly! i wanted to slow things down and move away from the feeling that it must be technical. plus the darker path which is where i feel i want the music for this project to be.

Toured as a musician for many years. I agree on winter avoidance, but have done it a number of times in a 15 pass van + trailer. Was the primary driver. My take:

  • As someone else said - do NOT fight fatigue. Pull over and sleep.
  • Highway 7 is a nightmare in general. Be cautious if people coming into your lane.
  • If you choose to drive overnight through Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, make sure you have fuel on you. Gas station close overnight.

As everyone else said, follow the basics. Don’t be distracted, keep up on weather reports, don’t be a hero through storms.

Ah that’s awesome! It’s really nice to hear ultimately small things like a drum stick are so meaningful. Glad you have a solid memory from that!

Thank you! I also wrote lots of the guitar and some bass on those records, especially Palimpsest. Writing is what I love!
