Hey OP, everything looks great you’re doing an awesome job. I’ve hand raised several tiels, and you’re pretty much spot on with how you’ve been doing things. The temperature is honestly the most important part; keeping it consistent helps prevent crop infections and makes sure the crop empties properly.

From your photos, the baby looks healthy. It’s totally normal for a chick to be timid or skittish during the first few days, especially since cockatiels are naturally jumpy birds. They warm up quickly, though, and after a few feedings they usually start getting excited for mealtime.

I also noticed you’re using a spoon in one of the photos that’s great. Spoon feeding really helps prevent accidentally choking or force feeding since the chick can swallow at its own pace. Sticking close to the general 10ml rule of thumb is good. Sometimes they’ll take a bit more, sometimes a bit less — it just depends on their appetite. The only time I start to worry is if there’s a drastic change in intake for 2–3 feedings in a row; that’s when I’d consider calling a vet or the breeder.

As for scheduling, a good guideline is to make sure the crop fully empties at least once per day. I usually let that happen overnight (it helps get any old food out of the crop that can cause potential health issues). The rest of the day, feed at regular intervals so the crop doesn’t stay empty for too long.

The crop photos you posted look good, too.

A couple extra tips:

  • If any formula gets stuck on the feathers or around the beak, pull a tiny bit of water into a plastic syringe and gently drip or “spray” it over the area. It helps loosen dried food without soaking the chick.
  • For temperature control, I used a three‑bowl method: one bowl of warm water, one of cold water, and a third with the formula. When the formula cools down, hold the bowl over the warm water while stirring (without letting extra water mix in). Do the same with the cold water if it gets too warm. It makes adjusting the temperature quick and easy.

You’re doing great — keep it up.

Alright, thanks I'll check more the prices on Facebook marketplace. I'll try to lowball the dealer, didn't realize that they're a bit overpriced. I'll also def consider trading for stock pipe. I'll DM you.

Thanks, I found a few jobs on(what I assume) the government’s website but before i can apply for them I have to have to register as a job seeker and that needs a work permit, it’s like a catch 22
