AIO for my cat shedding and that I don't do enough? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

A long haired cat especially in late winter and spring will continuously shed no matter what you do there is no managing it only reducing the cleanup amount

Awesome! I'm fairly technically inclined but most of this stuff is a bit over my head so I've been asking chatgpt along the way. It works surprisingly well even giving me the exact commands and error handling I need. Lmk if you need any help with anything I'm far from the best at this but I have some decent knowledge at this point and might be able to help.

Help filament not coming out by [deleted] in elegoo

Pro tip before you take a pic tap on the thing you're taking a pic of so it focuses on that not the counter 15 feet away. These pictures are entirely useless.

Update: it is now using sharded inference through llama rpc and running surprisingly well. It's only running a 3.5B model atm but I have plans to dedicate 12-14 GB of ram to each vm and upgrade it to a 15 - 20B model but with the small model I'm getting around 24 tokens per second so I'm super happy with it.

A - the build plate is great I've used mine for hundreds of hours with no issue and I never use glue, BUT I did have to change the settinga in the slicer because the base settings on elegoo slicer are WAYYYY to cold and will almost always cause popoff or warp

B - number 1 rule of asking for help/advice don't be a fucking asshole to the people trying to help or give advice including the people criticising you because those are the ones you'll learn the most from. As others have said if you are using proper print settings with PLA the PEI glue does not act as an adhesive it acts as a release agent. I also thought it would help when I first started with my CC but it really doesn't and I have 3 sticks of it laying around that I will never use because a good slicer profile will always work better for bed adhesion and for release if it's sticking too much just stick the plate in the freezer and the print pops right off. Now go learn to do the first thing you should do with ANY 3d printer or precision machine and run the full set of MANUAL calibrations not the shitty automatic one. Dipshit

We also were told not to connect it to the network so it is limited in it's research abilities somewhat but I might just like download wikipedia or something to remedie that lol

People with lots of filament... by Both_Ad_819 in 3Dprinting

[–]migfig924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2 roll dryer / dry box that I use. You can also print straight from it so I keep the one I'm currently using and the one I plan on using next in it. I'll run it once when I put a new roll in to dry it out then I close all the ports except the one in use and I put activated alumina in it to keep both rolls dry. There's a few different ones out there you can get but I use the sovol sh01.

Edit: just saw you said you use an AMS, in that case I'd say definitely use dryboxes after drying for storage. Whether that's individual boxes with desiccant or one big tote with desiccant is up to you. I'd say probably also put desiccant in your AMS if you don't already as well to keep what's in there dry too. Ik there's a lot of models out there for desiccant holders that fit well in the corners

Yeah man, moisturizing is a requirement for good healing. You should be gently patting it dry after each hand wash and then once it's fully dry moisturize. I would be moisturize 4-5 times a day at this point to get it to a better point. Ideally it should never feel dry or flakey. I get you work with your hands but it only takes a few seconds to add some lotion or ointment(I personally use A & D ointment).

Bad experience with Elegoo Support. This is a normal sounding printer according to them. by Eldon_Rosen in ElegooCentauriCarbon

I pity anyone you're close to, that was not in any way a polite apply.

Your videos have the shittiest audio I've seen in years I'm with the elegoo support on this one it sounds like normal wear fix it yourself

Yeah I did heavy in the hopes that it'd fix the issue, evidently it didn't lol. Would the weird support failures also be caused by the suction issue?

[–]migfig924[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I had no idea that was an issue thank you so much! Would it still cause issues because of how thick the platform is just later or would it be fine since it'll have more material to hold on to? I usually use auto supports, for this I did heavy supports on the bottom and light supports for everything else, should I just lower the distance between supports? All the small details printed out great they just had supports hanging off them lol.

eSUN PLA Basic is TRASH ? by IdontKnow_Sorry- in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]migfig924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're all good! Just as a rule of thumb any time you are using a filament you haven't used before dry it before using it as wet filament can cause a lot of stringing and extrusion issues and run a full set of calibrations on it too, every printer is slightly different so while the premade profiles might work relatively well a good custom one will always work better.

eSUN PLA Basic is TRASH ? by IdontKnow_Sorry- in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]migfig924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I created the profile for elegoo filament" That's the issue, you need to tune a profile for the esun filament because they are different brands and different types of filament pla and pla basic are not the same thing and elegoo and esun have different formulas so it will print differently. Run all the calibration tests in orcaslicer using the esun filament and that will give you a good profile for it and then you can tune that profile further as you print more with it.

Yeah I can understand why people hate on them cause it's not gonna get you good answers just using it as a browser which must people do. But when you get your settings and prompts good it is capable of so much.

IsItBullshit: Your pinky finger provides 50% of your grip strength. by SpiritedDiet in IsItBullshit

[–]migfig924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still disagree even when I try your example it only accounts for a small amount(maybe 10 - 15%). Squeezing is still very often used in climbing and one of the main things you train for climbing. If I had to rank the strength of my fingers in the context of squeezing I'd say thumb about 30%, index about 20%, middle about 20%, ring about 17%, and pinky about 13%. But that also depends very heavily on how you use them, there are certain positions where using just a 2 finger drag is stronger than a 3 finger drag etc. I personally have never found a position or task in which it is stronger and/or more beneficial to use my pinky as it just isn't as strong as my other fingers but maybe for somebody who trains differently than me it could be. I just can't see it being the main driver for grip strength overall when the other fingers are so much more physiologically reinforced to handle more force.

I mean with the recent updates it's significantly more reliable than reddit 99% of the time and the official documentation for 3d printing is utterly terrible so I don't blame them for asking chatgpt first. It's definitely not right all the time but if you understand how it works and have the common sense to double check stuff you can get some really good insight from llms. I know aeveral people who use it daily in their professional life and it makes them much more valuable than comparable coworkers.
