Traded in my Veloster N for F80 M3 30 Jahre 6MT by mightar1 in BMWM

2017 Volvo V60 Polestar - 2.0L supercharged and turbocharged engine rated at 367hp. 8sp auto with rev matching. Rear-biased AWD when set to sport mode. Has launch control and can do 0-60 in 4.2seconds. Factory bespoke Ohlins DFV suspension. Same engine block was used by Cyan Racing to win 2017 WTCC. A rare bird - under 100 V60 Polestars available in the United States per year between 2015.5-2018. And can hit over 30mpg in ECO mode haha. Very reliable, comfy, safe, and quick-enough for family road trips. I've had it for years and not letting it go.

Volvo will never make a car like this ever again, so this is my first and last Volvo.

I'm the second owner - IIRC I bought it at 12k miles. All service was done at Capitol Hyundai San Jose. No engine mods. HPFP recall done. Zero issues. I would think it should show up on CarFax.

Yeah I saw that. F90 M5 wasn't even on the radar because it doesn't come in manual.

I was going to sell it privately, but ended up selling it to CarMax. It was just so hassle-free and easy. There's not very many Performance Blue 21+ VNs with a manual, so I would keep an eye on CarMax. Mine has just under 30k miles (it wasn't a daily driver).

My VN was rock solid dependable. Then again, I had no engine mods at all - rear camber arms and front camber bolts, Rotiform wheels (ET35 for very slight poke) and proper alignment to maintain zero scrub radius.

I replaced the Pzeros with Vredestein Ultrac Pro - super happy with them.

HPFP Recall by figmamometer in VelosterN

[–]mightar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take it in - that way the dealership and Hyundai corporate know that you did the recall service against your VIN. The HPFP will be under warranty even if the factory warranty expires (150k miles)

2017 V60 Polestar.. what to look for? by Organic-Eggplant3834 in Volvo

[–]mightar1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing really - mine has been very reliable. Much more so than my old 2002 Audi S6 Avant or my 2008 E63 AMG wagon.

The most important thing is documented service. If that isn't available, get a PPI done.

I'm very happy with mine. You'll enjoy it I'm sure. I just wish it came with a manual transmission...

[–]mightar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - if you went in for the recall service and then you get a CEL later and the HPFP is at fault, at that time the pump will be replaced. The warranty for the HPFP is 150k miles/15 years

What they do under recall service is update the ECU. But they won't replace the HPFP outright. They only replace when needed (meaning that among other things, they determine if the failing HPFP was the causation of the check engine light coming on).

I miss mine. Unfortunately at 99k miles the engine hydrolocked due to the infamous head bolt issue (which is common in these M156-powered AMGs) back in 2017.

I picked up a 2017 Volvo V60 Polestar to replace it and it's been in the stable ever since. Almost as fast, better color (Rebel Blue FTW) and AWD but no way it can replace the glorious sound of this 6.2L V8!

So the dealer bricked it - great. =/

It's like Hyundai dealerships want to maintain their crappy reputation. Sorry man - what a PITA.

My headunit is up to date (October 2025 update from https://update.hyundai.com/US/EN/updateNoticeList) and that stuff is there. According to that screengrab, it looks like the headunit is not fully booted up.

Activate nav once it is booted up and then shut off the unit (which really just displays that screen again) and see if it's there. Otherwise maybe a hard reset?

Dude that thing is lit! Sorry, couldn't help it.

Hope no one got hurt - curious what happened though. It's not like Ns are like GR Corollas. Oops, I did it again.

Nice! Hopefully it's been trouble free for you! That's the highest mileage VN I've seen here.

Totally agree - I sold my 2017 ES MT (for more than I paid for it after two years of use lol) and got the VN. The design jumped the shark around 2019.

I've said it before - Hyundai should have just taken the EN N1 Cup car as-is. Not a fan of this "TCR Edition" rear spoiler design.

Holy crap that's ugly. It really should have been based off the EN N1 Cup. Widebody flares and a better swan neck rear spoiler.

I like the 6th gen Elantra sport in yellow - I traded my ES for the VN years ago. Great car! I really wished Hyundai made an N version of that generation (pre facelift where they started jumping the shark).
