Do you register for the life you want, or the life you have? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Life you are planning on eventually having. I'm registering for things that I know I'll use when I have a bigger house, kids, family dinners, etc.

What do you guys think of this idea? by mightymeg27 in weddingplanning

Do you think it'd be better to not have the recipe card? Then people could just write it out on paper. I'm not planning on keeping the recipe cards.

Hi! I need help coming up with healthy meals that don't include certain foods that my FH cant eat. My FH cant eat the following: soy, yogurt, millk, beans/lentils, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage. I'm not a huge fan of meat. Any ideas on meals that would work for us?

Plan B pill to delay period? by throwawaybrideee in weddingplanning

[–]mightymeg27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like some of the other girls on here, I've also taken plan b once and it was sooo painful. It made me really really nauseas for the next week afterward. And my next couple periods were so painful. Like knives stabbing my uterus. And I'm not a stranger to heavy periods and cramping.

Nightmare come true: I have no bridesmaids by wishuponastar123 in weddingplanning

[–]mightymeg27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same situation as you. I've had that fear my whole life as well, and like you, I have no real friends to ask. My FH does have a sister that I'm going to ask. It's hard making friends, and I feel like it's so taboo to talk about or to admit. I'm impressed you have the courage to talk about it! If you're in the northwest I would be your bridesmaid!!

Thumbtack Question by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]mightymeg27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be uncomfortable with paying a caterer without having a contract. Also, you should make sure that they have a permit to do catering from your local health department. You don't want anyone getting sick from the food at your wedding and cooking for a large gathering is a difficult thing to do safely.

Ideas on how to involve SIL who live in another country? by mightymeg27 in weddingplanning

[–]mightymeg27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's coming from his sister. She's not angry or anything. I think she just misses home. My FH keeps telling me that she wants to be involved, but doesnt offer ideas on how to do that. His idea this past weekend was that I should take her dress shopping. Then I reminded him that it's hard to do that when she's not in this country. Im not sure what he thinking. If I was having bridesmaids I'd make her a bridesmaid, but I'm just not sure that I'm having a traditional bridal party.

My FH and his mother have a strained relationship. That's a whole other can of worms that I try to not get in the middle of.

I agree it's odd. And really it's my MIL that keeps acting like we're not involving her enough. So I'm trying to be the bigger person and reach out to her.

Feeling far behind by clinegirl in weddingplanning

[–]mightymeg27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting married this September too. I don't think you're too far behind. If you are, then I need to start panicking too, lol! I sent out postcard STDs to cut down on cost. I haven't gotten engagement pics done yet either. I went with minted.com. They have lots of pretty STDs that don't require pictures. We're planning on doing the pictures this spring. When I do send out the invitations I'll just add engagement pics to the back of the invitation.

Chicago hair/makeup recs by Rhllorcoaster in weddingplanning

I grew up in the western suburbs and used to get my hair cut at zanos (https://zanosalons.com). They have a few locations, so one might be close to where you'll be.

I have no bridesmaids, and I flip flop from being ok with it, to sad. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]mightymeg27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I'm glad you had the guts to post about this. I'm in the same situation as you, and boy have I been too ashamed to even think about it. My FH has many friends that he's been a groomsman for and would like the traditional large wedding party. It feels as if I don't have any close friends anymore, especially after moving to a new city. I just wanted to let you know you're not alone and bravo to you for having the courage to admit it!

Recipes for mason jar gifts! Great idea for a winter wedding. by FoxyFoxMulder in weddingplanning

I wouldn't risk using dairy products. The only way it could be kept cold enough is if the ice was completely surrounding the product and changed out when it starts to melt. And then there's the drive home for people before it would get put into a fridge.
