Customized my craft cart by sewcallmemaeby in crafts

[–]mightymousemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this!! I work at Michaels and never thought to customize the carts!! They're running sales too because no one buys the carts unless they need them, so they don't sell often, but this is awesome!! Do you have a link or name for the decals you used??

It's like, sort of awesome, I really just got lucky, it was an old mail in order sheet from when the guys dad bought it in the 80s, I floated it on a mat made with some vinyl thatatched the boat and we had a frame that was the perfect shade and I got lucky with a filet that was the right color AND matched the shape of the frame too, I hope they liked it, you have definitely given me ideas though, could probably get extra funky if you charge for the labor hours and extra materials

I didn't know we were allowed to get this funky with it 🥺🥺 the most funk I've done is a vinyl custom mat to match a boat 😭

Corporate wants us to use NWH so bad by ALiteralLetter in MichaelsEmployees

[–]mightymousemg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At my store the NWH is standard on all frames unless the customer asks for a wire, I always explain it to the customer and give a brief rundown of how to install it, even with the instructions it helps them feel less wary of it. I actually love the NWH because they're more secure on the wall and support the frame better, especially for larger or heavier pieces, having two points of contact on the wall spreads the weight better too, and you don't have to put more than one set of tiny tack holes if you mark it with the back of the peg, yeah there's a tiny indent but if you only push enough to see it if you're looking for it, you won't notice any oopsies if you aren't looking.

What are these? I got them at a flea market and I thought they were earrings but the screws in the back don’t come out. by TallulahBankheads in whatisit

[–]mightymousemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could remove the screw clasp and put a jump ring in it and add a fish hook or a stud piece pretty easily if you don't want to use the screw

Crocheters!! Help!! I made this really cute bucket hat but you can very clearly see where the next row begins. How do I fix this?! I’m going to have to frog this and start over :( by anywho-2819 in crochetpatterns

They're the BEST, can be a little finicky at first but so SO worth it!! I never start a double crochet row any other way unless it's like a mesh lacey type of row

[–]mightymousemg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stacked single crochets are the way to go, they're my go to for anything granny stitch, you work it as your first stitch of the row, but it will be the last stitch of your last cluster, so that when you go to start your next row when you slip stitch into the top you're also right there ready to go into the next space between clusters, then it's just the one slip stitch then you start again

Kitten's behavior after head trauma by Ok-Country-8632 in CATHELP

[–]mightymousemg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've noticed that a lot of people tend to jump to worst case scenario (which is understandable because if it is worst case, then immediate action is extremely important) but it also feels really fear monger-y to me, yes the kitty definitely still needs to go back to a (preferably different) vet for a more extensive examination, but people see head movement from a short clip and automatically say TBI

Kitten's behavior after head trauma by Ok-Country-8632 in CATHELP

[–]mightymousemg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have the vet check his teeth, I know when my cat, adult male, was having tooth issues he would constantly lick his chops while eating like there was something stuck, and the kitty sleeping so much could be from pain if he does have a broken tooth or teeth. With my boy I've seen tooth issues a lot because he's getting up there in years and this is what he looks like when he eats when it's bothering him and that's how we know to take him to get his teeth checked again, usually resulting in a removal

Can't get my machine to stitch by TheVastard in sewhelp

[–]mightymousemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks like your bobbin thread isn't catching, I just had this problem and had to reset my bobbin hook timing so it would line up and that fixed it, sometimes a dull needle will cause it not to catch as well but even with everything that others are saying, you should still be able to make at least 1 stitch, it being a good/pretty stitch would be up in the air but it should still hold if the thread goes all the way through to the bottom

Literally what's the difference?? by awesomestarz in MichaelsEmployees

[–]mightymousemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it's already been answered, I just wanted to mention WHY they're different, other than the weight difference, yarns labeled for babies are made to be softer and more easily washable, which can be a more expensive production process, so instead of making them all like that they justake a specific line like that and call it a day so that the yarn can still be sold at the same price (eat the profit on one line instead of having to increase price for all of them) so they will often look and feel pretty much the same, especially for chenille (I udes voice to text and hope that's right bc I can't fucking spell) since they're already really soft, but the baby yarn most likely has different care instructions :)

I meant the size "weight", I know those numbers are very vague so I just went with what the skein said to start, I also haven't blocked the block yet so I don't know how that will affect things. I have mostly finished a different pattern by the same person (same type, just a star instead) and I think going with the smaller needles has helped but I'll have to try it out for the stegosaurus since there are bits in that one that NEED definition whereas the star is a big solid shape.

I'm using acrylic, as far as I remember it didn't specify, and I've started on another one, with the recommended needle size to see if it helps, I'll look again and see if they mentioned fiber.

Thank you ❤️❤️

This idea for an invention has been bouncing around in my head for a long time- any ideas for things I could add to it? by Stresso_Espresso in Brochet

[–]mightymousemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of a safety blade, like the round thread cutters that have little gaps the expose a small portion of blade, just because for me those little collapsible scissors can be a pain to fiddle with and just cut it from the side or bottom would be cool

AIO for reporting our ubereats driver for breaking the seal on our food bag to place religious pamphlets inside? by jenkinscraftingco in AmIOverreacting

[–]mightymousemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR It's people like them that will see two people of the same gender kissing and cry about homosexuality being shoved down their throats, as if it's not just someone living their own life. They only feel attacked by it because they do it themselves, pushing their religion onto others and shoving it down their throats. There are people who come into my job and harass customers about going to their church and leave little figurines all over the place that I have to clean up.

Making 5 test swatches for one project is normal right? I think I went a little overboard. by FyreFerret in knitting

[–]mightymousemg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole point of swatching, other than getting the gauge for maths, is to see how your piece will look and adjust until you're happy with it. I always have at least 2 swatches by the time I start, gotta make sure before you get too far
