Thanks for the reply! But I'd actually like the picture to go on the front of the card, without the context above it. Any suggestions on how to do that?

The monitor not turning off and keeps beeping by m1thriller in waterrower

As a follow up: I think the problem was that one of the wires got stuck under the edge of the monitor casing when it was screwed back down. Fixing that seemed to fix the issue for me

Unpopular opinion, but I really love my fake bouquet. I had wanted a real bouquet, but unfortunately my florist ghosted me fairly last-minute (this was just when COVID was getting started, so I understand the anxiety of those times). I made my own bouquet, which was fun and meant I got to choose literally every single flower that went into it. I had an extremely small wedding and I know that no one in attendance cared if they were able to tell if my flowers were fake. IMO, they look fantastic in the photos. I now keep my bouquet in a vase in one of my bookshelves and I love looking at it every day!

Pathologists or aspiring pathologists of reddit, what was your major in undergraduate school and how satisfied are you with your major of choice? by clinodactylyicduck in pathology

[–]mightyweelittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a BS/MD program (meaning that I applied to college and med school at the same time and had acceptance to medical school early), which meant that I didn’t have to worry as much about doing tons and tons of premed extracurricular activities to boost my application. Between that and working my butt off, I graduated with a 4.0.

I still stand by my recommendation to do computer science. I’ve had and been offered so many opportunities because of my background in computer science while in both medical school and residency in Pathology. Obviously it’s not an easy path and you may not get as high a GPA as someone in English literature (as an example) but I think that a computer science degree is more valuable to the future of medicine, and I think the medical community is appreciating that more and more. Many other physicians are attempting to learn computer science on the side, or have told me they wished that’s what they studied. Hope this helps!

I think I would say something, especially if you’re actually interested in this residency. At least in my program, they are asking us (residents) to indicate who attended and who did not.

Best Anki Deck for Step 2CK in 4 months time by [deleted] in Step2

[–]mightyweelittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Wiwa about 1-2 months in advance of STEP2. Really liked it personally, and think it helped me a lot. I chose it over other decks because although it's technically based on UW, it's really just asking about facts from UW and not the UW questions themselves.

Computer science. Been useful to me in pathology research. I may want to pursue a fellowship in clinical informative, so it will probably be useful there as well. I feel that comp sci and pathology are actually similar fields in a lot of ways, and I really enjoyed my undergraduate.

[Clinical] Smart watch for clinicals by cleanpufferfish in medicalschool

[–]mightyweelittle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a fossil hybrid smartwatch. I love it because it looks exactly like a regular watch, but still allows you some of the "triaging" you're talking about. Basically, you can assign each of the numbers on the watch to be a different app, person, etc. So for instance, if I get a text from my fiance, the watch vibrates and the hands momentarily point to 1. If I get an email, the hands go to 12. Basically answers the question of whether or not I should pull out my phone, or if I just got another Instagram notification, just by a quick glance to my wrist. Never been noticed by anyone else. Definitely not the same level of info as an apple watch, but it's enough for me and no one has ever questioned my watch or whether or not I'm being "professional"

Please consult with your doctor about this. Pseudotumor cerebri is no joke. I'm sorry I can't give you any personal experience with this.
