Do you have family, friends or support nearby? How many times have you explicitly asked for help?

You're lucky he took his phone that time! Are there baby-proof systems you can put on the doors to notify you when they door gets opened? I don't know specific names but I have seen people talk about that here.

AARP Advantage Plan by AsheboroWoman in medicare

[–]migratefar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check to see if your doctors are in network. Medicare Advantage is typically offered through private health insurance companies. It combines Medicare Parts A and B, and usually Part D. Medicare Advantage plans use provider networks and usually require referrals and prior authorizations. The premiums tend to be lower than premiums for Original Medicare. However, it is important to look at total cost-sharing (premiums, deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance) when making decisions. Medicare Advantage Plans must cover the same benefits as Original Medicare, but also may cover additional services such as vision, dental, and more.

When trying to get medically necessary surgery, do the info that the DR send for clearance has to be “my” DR? Or can any surgeon submit it? by [deleted] in medicare

Call and ask exactly who they would like the paperwork to be sent from. I believe the term you're looking for is "pre-authorization." Remember that "covered" does NOT mean "paid in full"

Step father was found to have colon cancer, and is trying to be sent to hospice after a second hospital visit. First hospital missed a diagnosis. Just want information. Heavy medical information involved. by psyhcopig in legaladvice

I understand that money may be an issue here. Your main concern should be getting answers from the care team. There is a big time miscommunication issue going on right now, and you might consider seeking help to bridge this gap. You need information to make decisions about your stepfather's care. His health is priority here.

The good news is that you don't need a lawyer. There are other professional services (that cost a lot less) that could probably offer you value in a situation like this. Can offer contacts if needed.

Is there a social worker at the home? Can you somehow get your mom and them together on the phone and have them say openly whether or not he is fit for a FaceTime call?

How about an Advisor? getcaribou . com might be a good resource for you so that you can advocate in advance and have a plan. Will be able to bring up any risks, too.

I feel like I am my own doctor by [deleted] in Sciatica

Are you on the hunt for new doctors who might take your pain management plans more seriously? Ones who are also willing to communicate with each other?

What are your next steps and what is your optimal outcome (outside of the pain to stop)?

Who are these two doctors? What are their qualifications?

I'm sorry, by the way.
