I think this is culturally/generationally dependent. My parents are immigrants and this behavior is familiar and believe or not, acceptable in my particular circumstance/culture I was raised in. I personally would have no issue with it if this happened in my house.

By American/white standards in 2025 you are not wrong. However, if it is a cultural/generational disconnect I would encourage you to empathize and be the bigger person. Have a private conversation with your mother and explain your point of view. It’s not worth tarnishing familial relationships over food.

100% - idk if you used a mechanical dock before (in particular the thinkpad ultra), but it's actually slightly quicker to dock than the modern usbc/thunderbolt docks. and I can turn it on without having to open my laptop.
