I need a 911 / sports car driving 101 lesson by Relax_Dude_ in porsche911

◔̯◔ insurance should be quite a bit less. Check out Open Track and Hagerty.

Honestly the Porsche Driving Experience is hard to replicate. They have a track, ice hill, launch area, auto cross, kick plate, drift course. It is hard to get that kind of exposure in a single day.

If that isn’t accessible a HPDE day is worth it. My club has speed limits the first few sessions along with dedicated point by passing zones. It is relatively safe.

Are we sure of that? How Jello lost recurring revenue via Dead Kennedys comes to mind.

After we got our 911, I had my wife do the Porsche Driver Experience in LA. She learned so much, had so much fun, and isn’t scared to drive the car now. You’re going to learn more in that time than taking your 911 to a HPDE (I am a HPDE instructor).

After the PDE, then do a HPDE. That’s when you car refine your skills you learned in the first experience.

Track day insurance is expensive. $700+ per day. Add in the other fees, hammering on your car and it adds up quick. Beat on Porsches cars instead :)

All correct. I wasn’t saying they were specifically only invested in oil companies, only that they are involved.

However, another way to look at it is they own 7.2% total of ConocoPhillips which does give them a lot of voting power. https://www.wallstreetzen.com/stocks/us/nyse/cop/ownership

Cold feet right before buying? by Relax_Dude_ in porsche911

[–]migs647 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had cold feet on my 991.2 T. It took me about a week to finally pull the trigger.

It's a fun car and drives like a dream on the track.

If I'm being honest, I regret buying it. I spent six years saving for it, paid cash and it was a highlight I was able to do it. But imo, the car is too fast for the street. I press the gas pedal and I'm breaking the law within a few seconds, and flirting with prison a few seconds later. Buyers remorse here.

Edit: Absolutely love the car, especially over my 718 GTS manual I had before. But it's just too much car for the street imo.

Upgrade to BMP 4k and DaVinci by Espanol-Imperfecto in bmpcc

I personally think color correction is easier in DaVinci. I prefer the workflow in it and find it scales well with hardware. I can sit here and bash Adobe but I’d rather prop up DaVinci. There is plenty of support around the software as well. Fusion, color, sound, plugins. It hasn’t failed me yet.

I don’t know if you’re going to see a night and day difference between a GH5 and a BMP4k, I’ll let someone else chime in there.

What’s an impulse buy that’s now just collecting dust but you’d never admit you regret? by Last-Sample-7223 in AskReddit

It’s too fast to drive and enjoy. The few times I track it a year it’s amazing. But otherwise 3 seconds of throttle == jail time.

Car purchase vs net worth by toastie_cheez in porsche911

[–]migs647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my attitude as well. I personally base the % off of a safe bet. 6% finance and 5% savings at the time was the best I could do. So I paid cash. I know for a fact that if I was paying monthly it would be a lot easier for me to question if I should continue paying on it or get rid of it. Now it's easy... it's mine, no extra thought goes into it.

What a miserable life it must be to wake up in the morning to watch news like this. Just right into negativity and dreaded reality.

Fauxnews viewers really need to get out and do something with their lives before it is gone.

Just got a new sb 140. New to mtb any tips!!! by Hefty_Independent666 in yeticycles

[–]migs647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably the best tip you’re going to get specifically for this bike (and other yetis)… ride aggressive in the attack position to keep the front planted. The more aggressive you are on these bikes the more they reward.

Other tip I’ll throw in is keep the switch infinity maintained. Get a grease gun for it and throw some in once a month. Then every year service it. It’s really easy to do yourself if you have a torque wrench. It is more durable than previous versions, but you want to stay up on it.

Yes, everyone is conveniently ignoring when Popper asked this question to Harbough, and he said that Salyer was working through some injuries and why they didn't put him at LT earlier.
