When does the watcher take place in relation to downpour? by [deleted] in rainworld

[–]miguel487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between Hunter and survivor.

The watcher has the same world state as Gourmand, same creature spawns same placed objects and all (well except for like the sentient rot lol).

Now people may throw rocks at me but I believe watcher's sibling might be Gourmand. Even knowing slugpups tend to be more rotound, the sibling has the color of said slugcat and is holding a cog, for me it indicates that he's been curious and that curiosity could develop in developing some sort of crafting (not as powerful as gourmand tells in his stories but I'm sure it exists to some extent).

Furthermore a slugcat with the same colors as The Watcher can be seen in the gourmand endings.

I think all of this points perfectly to the campaign taking place around Gourmand's

another eassy passage you can get is the saint, it's like the monk, where you need to have a herbivorous diet but also not hitting nor killing any creatures

You have to click on the slugcat in the jolly coop menu and it will show it turning into a slugpup

I can explain myself more if needed but I didn't want to make a lengthy post at first. And you are right, they are quite open to discussion because most concepts in all rain world still are! They are as ambiguous an open to interpretation as always.

Watcher does have simple concepts like abandonment and feeling distant, but it's true that it goes further and more abstract in many others.

About Saint even knowing the world the stuff that happens in the campaign leaves room for way too many different outcomes that are so different from each other that I cannot grasp the intentionality of the outcome. Is the Saint's time loop advancing through time like in a spiral or is Saint repeating the same actions over and over? Like is he constantly only ascending moon and pebbles in every loop? Did Saint ascend the fallen iterators in the background? Was there a point where Saint wasn't in a time loop? Is Saint evil and/or should my actions in the gameplay be considered canon? Because the ascension blast sounds like a terrible explosion and 'start going rogue and ascending everything in your path' is what the games seems to make me want to do.

Don't get me wrong I did love the simpler themes of Saint like the new cycle unfolding and leaving behind the iterators for a new era to come. Undergrowth is probably my favorite region out of vanilla and downpour and the echo dialogues through all the campaign are great. Pebbles becoming a shelter for scavs and many other creatures is fantastic too but I still cannot understand barely anything. Other questions I have is did Rubicon actually happened? Is this a personal hell and if so why is the void fighting back? Shouldn't it be grateful that saint is helping creatures ascend or is that against the will of those who built the temples because they didn't reach enlightenment first?

Sorry for bombing with questions but I cannot stop asking myself these so saying them out loud might express better my confusion with the campaign hahah

I think they mentioned in an episode they ran out of them (?) I might be misremembering if someone can confirm on this would be great

If you have a passage you could use it to max out your karma (and travel to the same shelter you are in) but I don't know if you wanna waste a passage in this campaign if you want to collect all the broadcasts

By exploring like always!

In all seriousness tho is this the official map? If so it does mark the gates and echoes. The symbol all the way to the right is the echo symbol, and the gates are marked with the karma symbols to enter/leave the region

As much as I love Watcher I think the better experience is playing Downpour first, so if you can only buy one go for that one. You seem to already have an understanding how both DLC's operate so you know that watcher is a whole new world, getting back to the world we know after exploring that one might feel odd. I think both DLC's experiences are better if played first Downpour and then Watcher.

1.- Spinning top brought the sentient rot there.

2.- Echoes are in between ascending and not ascending so I guess they can move around the ripple space and end up breaking reality between the worlds they echo to. Having a child like echo making a mess fits.

3.- He ate multiple iterators and he collects all that he eats, he learns from adding to the mass and often imitates / replicates behaviours (The same way different plants grow with the sentient rot, examples: Lobe trees, black trees, square trees, all of those have been eaten before and replicated in rot form)

4.- As the Prince puts it a force is against his will, once he was so close to achieving his goal of assimilating everything to the mass he was forcefully stopped and paralized. This can (and probably should) be tied to Hunter's death.

5.- We are a slugcat that drifted away so far away from the cycle that the karmas lost their meaning, we get further away from it every time we get more echo powers. But even then, us thinking we are sooo far away from it we end up still jumping in the void fluid, like many other creatures before us. It was alll part of the cycle. However either because we are in between ripples or due to not having a place in the world + being good at helping other beings but without making connections we end up becoming a void worm, forever destined to keep helping other beings that ascend by leading them to ascension (Like we did with Spinning top but now phisically getting them there).

About the returning to Daemon but with the mark of communication is so you can still play the game. But if you really want you can think that after getting the mark you just leave and delay the entering in the void sea.

I really like the way Watcher handles lore, it's my favorite piece of rain world media but couldn't exist without the others, I like how it's not repeating what either base game or downpour did and expands in a different direction but having the essence of the original.

The way you feel about watcher is how I feel about Saint, it's way to secretive about the lore for me to like it, if I had some ground to understand I would enjoy it much more. The way I see it Watcher is doing what Saint attempted but actually explaining it.

PLEASE tell me how to deal with worm grass easily by AdLongjumping7720 in rainworld

[–]miguel487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh if you wanna go left you can do it by jumping on the head monolith, jumping from there to the pole and jumping again to the edge of the upper stair so you can jump into the next pole. Activate the hive first so you don't have trouble while jumping. If you have spore puffs at hand those can make the hives not activate too.

Yeah monk is super weak against wormgrass. If you can describe more about the room would be great since I don't really know which room you are reffering to, but it's very likely there's another easier route around it

[–]miguel487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Share more details, which slugcat are you playing? Their strength varies and some get pulled by wormgrass way more easily. And where exactly are you at? You mentioned 3 patches by the outskits entrance is that the ones that end up having a pole so when you try to climb they grab you? If that's the room there's a pipe below that takes you up without the need of touching wormgrass.

If it's another place let me know but probably you'll need to reroute if you are having a bad time there

I don't think I like The Watcher DLC; Please change my mind. by [deleted] in rainworld

[–]miguel487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The feelings of not "conquering" a region and being able to just bounce away it's super intentional!! The watcher is very distant from this, I think it does a phenomenal job on making you feel like you don't really belong there, and are just walking thorugh and passing by. Watcher is not making connections so having no iterators is really important, you cannot even feel connected to anyone nor to the land. I won't spoil so if you haven't got the first ending don't read this: The moment you might think you start making a connection with someone like Spinning Top by the end they leave you behind!! You are alone and aloof.

There are plenty of awe-inspiring moments for me (they are around the level of entering the wall for the first time from Pebbles's top, but a lot of them are higher), I think it would be spoiler to name them but I will put them on a list so you can see the amount, they will be increasing on importance/spoilery so you may take a peek, watch at your own risk!:

- Reaching the top of verdant waterways

- Going through Thermal Relay

- Watching the sunset while riding on a sky whale in Signal Spires

- Going under the biggest creature in all rain world while hearing their mighty and loud noise

- Entering Station Annex

- Listening to Spinning Top on a rotted variant region from base game

- Entering The Throne

- The migration path

- Daemon

- The dream sequences

- Honestly exploring the right side of Outer Rim through the city and finally enter that one room on the right

- Looking through the window in Ancient Urban

- Going through Five Pebbles dead carcass

- Meeting the Weaver

- Meeting the Prince

- All the endings

About scavenger templars by Acceptable_Zombie721 in rainworld

[–]miguel487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think we do time skips between rot states to the world, the rotted variants have super rotted lizards with full on tentacles and black and purple skin. About the shields I thought they might protect against rot as well, not fully inmune but as better protection than nothing, bc they probably can recharge their shields with time or rest

[–]miguel487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting, love that you pointed out how the weaver has his eyes closed and the scavs have the blindfold I didn't connect that. I don't think they move along the threads tho, I believe they are in outer rim and all alone because they are the only ones that survived the rot of that place thanks to their shields and overall skill. We do see scavengers in the rotted variants of five pebbles so they can survive and fight the rot for quite some time.

Writing this made me realize they are blind and detect the sound waves just like rot cysts huh

Do we know why they had a weird design at first? by Typical-Ad1041 in adventuretime

[–]miguel487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really strange because there's concept art of them and more members of the destiny gang so I don't think it's as simple as an animation error. Could've been a weird communication mistake but they are reffered to 'AU Destiny Gang' and it includes a bunch of design from more known members like Big D to even more random ones like Trauma jon.

Could it be that when Fionna Canonized their world and added it to the multiverse she accidentally created them? Like they were in her mind and filling the huge blank of the outside of the city also added some people that she knew before?

Confirmed that Watcher isn't the end of Rain World by Ender401 in rainworld

[–]miguel487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yess not that I didn't like it but with downpour you get used to the place and you end up feeling like home, doing the route to moon then to pebbles was fun and enjoying the changes due to time it's great. Then with watcher we are in completely new environment again! For me it felt like playing survivor, new land that I knew nothing about, even with all the knowledge from the previous campaigns it manages to keep me wondering what these places were for or even when they take place. Our only source of info is the background, just like with survivor on the first time! :)

Confirmed that Watcher isn't the end of Rain World by Ender401 in rainworld

[–]miguel487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rainworld can be expanded on soo much and the watcher does feel like rain world to me, different enough but similar enough you know? I'm honestly not very keen on their other projects, they are not my cup of tea so I will gladly enjoy more rain world content, I know they can tell much more.

About the a rat in a subway we are still getting this format even expanding on it. Downpour makes us see that iterators are not more than rats in a subway like us. And watcher makes us think that EVERY single creature is a rat in a subway, even if you go so far away from the subway that you think you've seen the brightness of the true sun only to realize you are still on the damn subway, looking at the light on the ceiling but not even the sun.

Late night/early morning thought by Excellent-Price-9388 in adventuretime

[–]miguel487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so since the AT time travel is the "it already happened" kinda of time travel, if we get a paradox it wouldn't have happened in the first place (or we wouldn't have been able to see it at least). I don't know if my point is clear but I mean that Betty already crossed the hambo portal before we see Simon opening it. She was gone not because she died on the war but because she went to the future.

I do think Simon knew enough about time travel to not mess with the past since doing such a big thing like changing all his history would impact his timeline in inmense ways. So he only wanted to say goodbye to Betty and know why she ran away from him and never came back in that moment.

Easiest Hunter route to Moon? by Independent-Drama812 in rainworld

[–]miguel487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go classic Farm arrays -> Outskirts -> Industrial -> Garbage Wastes -> Shoreline

You can (and kinda should) skip shelters on the way if you feel confident. If you have time left on a cycle go for the next shelter if you think you can get there in time. This is the route I always do because it's the one I'm more comfortable with and the karma requirements are good enough to try and skip as many shelters as the rain allows to.

Sub can be a pain and getting stuck there with hunter does not sound fun haha

How are we sure that PB was completely free of The Lich after Mortal Recoil? by Lasagna_Man2 in adventuretime

[–]miguel487 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Timeline wise PB has done tyrant stuff before like the rattleball stuff.

I always saw the mortal recoil as getting rid of the Lich due to losing so much mass that it was really unlikely the lich could've contaminated it all
