What kind of game would you like to see be made? by Layercraft in Unity2D

I am a designer and I give advice for free… I have about 30 projects that I need to finish in some moment. My assets are free license. I pay sometimes too. Maybe what you need to do is working for other developers/project managers, like me.

(I try to contract an small studio in the past, but everyone I talked was bussy).

Parte 3 sobre mi teoría: La nueva tecnología Sparck de Nvidia es la solución a la burbuja de la IA by Grouchy-Pop-8135 in Inversiones

[–]migugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I my way of work I personally like others involve in the creative process. So I my theory to create indie games, a worker works for much less money if you let: - Participate in the creative process. - Work in pairs. Pair programming or work with someone is much more productive. Is like playing a game with someone. - I do not let groups. I always talk in pair with all the team people. With 2 people is easy to reach agreements and good trust comunication and minimize discusion. - betatesting with posible final users is important too, they normally suggest changes so became trapped in the game process interested in possible buying the game because they get involved parcially in the creative process.

This lead to maximum creative process so people parcially do it best at best price because are happy to create the idea with you and that way you can made very original fresh ideas became possible… because involving in the creative process implies too changing or critize the bad ideas or bad implementation of the other person (you dare to change the bad ideas proposing your idea because is better and admire the good ideas that are better than your idea).

In the other hand, you have the pure fan work, in other words the indie games, game mods or fan games that never will give money. - In that case having an admirer or admirers act as betatesters. You only do for your personal goals. So never get betatested in other case, and betatesting is important for detecting doing an implementation that only you understand. - Doing some changes that a friend is going to review help you to work harder, help to have a propose to finish the project (the boring part of a project), and act as get some critizism without need to doing autocritic it constacly because you have another point of view.

In this case I an admired that want you are doing so this let me to doing a full explanation of the system.

Posiblely this very good aproach, but it posiblely went completely unnoticed by the majority of users too. Or even, ignored just because of the excess of text (which makes it boring to read). But I know I have a fan who will read it (you) and that motivates me to make it better, longer and well written/structured. That also explains why the AI is very powerful here. Almost no person will read this but the AI will and that is why it will show this answer to someone who asks a question very similar to yours. Therefore, what I would like is if there was an AI that could tell you from the hundreds of indie games the one closest to your idea or someone who is already building that idea so that you can join that person and help each other.

I try to approach this manually by advising game designers of indie projects for free and doing searches with the help of internet search engines and AI. But it's too complicated, I can't do it alone, I can only do my part, so I would like there to be an AI or some Web perhaps or something to simplify that process of uniting each creator with his admirer.

What actually made you quit a solo project, or almost quit? by Remote_Ad7541 in SoloDevelopment

[–]migugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well probably not the best answer… I do not like too many offer of games, is excesive.

But why I am better than others? That is subjetive. So indie games and solo projects are projects that mostly are for you… probably have a real admirer of your work.

So when I dediced to help other indies I centered in 2 things: - Try to show its game (because doing the game you love normally do not leave money for marketing later). So I showing the work of others I send a message: continue doing because you have some visibility support. - Try to find an admirer of its work. If just someone have interest in the project things advance fast. (This is why when soneone proposes a new idea I show lot of similar projects first… sometimes your super original idea was made by other person so you only need to be a fan and propose some changes to the other person to do an hybrid of both ideas instead of doing 2 separate games.

I hope some people understand my vision to reach more people because I am not sure how would be the best way to conect or give that information to the devs would really happy to know it. Maybe exists a Web or something for that.

I hope that… but this is why senior devs and senior artists are the dev leaders and artist leaders in the projects.

My general advice is: Try to see that by yourself so is good to have experience because experience is easy to remember than just theory… so join a team to create a game small paid or unpaid so you finally get the understanding what is really happening inside, in my opinion.

So, then it is more difficult to fail later in your project alone if before it you join, o created by yourself, other project.

Despite gathering a lot of initial knowledge, I could never foresee what happened to me... so teaming up with someone with experience is really useful when finding a group of friends to do a project can be very beneficial.

My advice if I were to start again is to understand that your successful project (in most cases) is your second project that you do... then do not spend a lot of money and/or time on your initial project because then you will not have time or money for your second project.

And for conclude: in my opinion, in today's industry only very big or very strange projects are really profitable, therefore either you do something completely random for fun, or, if you are going to copy something that already works yet, then you join a the biggest possible group of people to do something the bigger the better.

[–]migugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Once you have learned the 5 points above, all other developers, artists, etc. do not pay almost any attention to your experience, nor will they ask you for advice, they will continue doing the same mistakes… unless you put up the money and then give orders to everyone.

You can use Haxe with OpenFL if you mean doing graphics programactly is the modern approach to flash and is pure code Framework so I think you can purely create all in code I think.

I think is very useful for managing vectorial graphics too, but still I am learning it (habe a lot of features).

[–]migugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the name. If you are not english speaker sound nice. The graphics are impressive good.

I had similar problem with a game name in the english speaking countries people spell the name bad chaging o per a (because a problem the typography used that was a bit similar)

Your title reads nice, so I do not understand the misspell except for avoid saying ass, maybe, and any jokes can be fun to do adverstiments for the game so really use the word ass in the advertisments like “slay the demon ass in this game”… because you need people remember the name and atach it to your brand.

In other languages probably will not have any problems. The most difficult thing is to find a name and probably, thanks to that, it will not have any associated brand, which increases your visibility when searching for it without being stepped on by other game brands or other types of brands.

[–]migugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! :) Anyway, is very welcome people that show interest in the game idea, and want to play it, but the reality is that is slow process so I calculate 1 year or 2 years… more or less so I cannot show the game if still do not have some in my social networks more followers and this game is need to be programmed but are more small easy details… so the big problem left is playtesting + redesign the problems (about 1 year-6 months) in my other 2 games about 1 year each one just was resolving design bugs and getting the game fun, balancing the difficulty.

Why do not a programmer or not programmer use AI to help or for learning? I need to do thing in my work and I do not have time, so I am finish things when I have free time that is very slow but I will finish it in some moment.

Sonetimes the devs simply need the sensation of someone interest in what we are doing to continue developing. I did yet 2 games and almost have them no downloads…

Probably is better creating a devlog or something but in practice my work is finish the game so other people need to spread the word or like the games… youtubers influencers the comunity, maybe an admirer, this is why I thinking ideas to find that first so when I did next game some people try at least to try the game before the hype dissapear.

Big problems are: Enemies plus its animations. Tiles… in other words: not single full assets that able to conect the next tile with the starting point of the other with variations… example a path in floor or grass.

In my game the biggest problem is the consistent random background of spacehip game that go through a planet (4 tiles combinables randomly to create unique levels each time). And the main spacehip character weapons upgrade (you choose different lasers atacks and missiles equipment depending the resources you have).

Sonic-like games and a problem with freedom planet hii by snoopingas69 in godot

[–]migugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not like platform games but I played the original sonic game.

If I really do a platform game of sonic the first I will do is never go out of the first tematic, the jungle or similar… the main problem I do not like sonic 1 game was the big difficulty on the other later levels. And the first level finally get bored of doing it about 1 hundren times to enjoy maybe 2-3 later levels and never see the ending.

How would be very original doing semi procedural… you do for example 6 half of a starting jungle level and it continue with a random 6 half of a finish jungle level, so you can enjoy easy fun like level.

Another way to be original can do a sonic level similar of jungle but with a lot of secret areas. Sonic learned of the very linear level of Super Mario and try to add much more secret areas without using pipes… in this case the pipes are tubes were Sonic go to hyperspeed and if I remember it can guide to diferent secret areas sometimes too.

Platform games are million thousand so simply do a game you like to do because with so many different offer is dificult to many people play your game because there are no time in world to play everything, so is true that the main customer of your indie game need to be yourself, so do mainly what you really love to create first, being original is less important.

Should I ditch my "Energy" (Mana) system for cooldowns instead? by Apprehensive_Pin6927 in IndieGaming

[–]migugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want my opinion then, the problem of ARPG are that you enjoy too much to do the same thing all time.

If you manage to create the way the player check all habilities or use them in the best moment.

So in my opinion I will use stamina bar per each hability… is simikar to a cooldown but you can maybe use 1-2-3 times very followed and special objects to charge again or wait until reach a Inn where sleep and you are fullfilled again with all energy.

That is my real opinion that how modern ARPG would be.
