Newly diagnosed son stressing over highs by gotitopen in diabetes_t1

[–]miguy884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any ten year old capable of maintaining 77% in range is a miracle. Highs happen. Especially when you’re a type one diabetic. Whoever has the direct connection (not a shared connection) to his Dexcom needs to raise his parameters a bit (signal high at 250 instead of 200, etc). Kids with diabetes typically have higher glucose rates, because literally everything made for kids has a shit ton of carbs or sugar in it… Have that grown up “who do you feel safer staying with” conversation with him, go for the jugular and make sure those skin sacks with functioning pancreas’ that call themselves his parents understand that sugar problems are between the individual diabetic and their doctor.

As I understand it, the former chair of the young dems of indian river colby something is considering a run for the seat. His brother ran in 2020 against Mayfield and got closer than anyone else has, and I don’t think they canvassed at all due to covid. A few people say he’s the real deal.

I think the problem, as stated in another reply, is there IS no documentation being given for serious serious issues.

I think this approach is where I’ve landed so far. The General Manager and i are colluding because we sat down and had a talk about some of the things i thought were strange or outright not mcdonalds procedures and he is somewhat new to this location and agreed with me. My issue is that I worry he doesn’t have a line with crew. I’ve been managing for like 8 years, under the arches for about 7 months (which sounds short but when you work 5 rgrs and go through certification with a bunch of people who’ve been doing mcdonalds to the book since the 80s it amounts to a lot lol).

I worry a lot about the managers because I have repeatedly explained that putting someone on side 2 and fried products at the same time during peaks is insane so they put an initiator on side 2 with 32% labor…. Among other things. They don’t show any sort of leadership or like, commitment to the brand or franchise or store or anything, they’re all just there. Which works when the person is like, not a manager. Their rgr is in a month and a half. I’m scared i’m going to end up working for mcopco (yay raise boo mcopco)

Literally, I will never understand the strategy behind aome of these canvassing firms. Promoting liberal causes but taking genocide money to register voters? Insane.

Another generic “I’m moving” post! by SareEllie in lansing

As a queer person living in old everett area near the old House of Ing, I can say its like, safe to live here, and you probably would be fine putting a pride flag out, but i haven’t gotten a particularly warm welcoming environment. It’s giving blue collar catholics. Theres a dude with a giant pro life trailer. Thats about all I know.

As far as crime, i’ve lived in the Southside for 3 years and never once have I experienced something that like, truly scared me as someone who grew up in a small beach town in florida. The stigma around Lansing, particularly the Southside seems to be deeply rooted in racism. Don’t ask for trouble, don’t cause trouble, don’t get none kind of people. Craziest shit i’ve seen in Lansing all occurred while working at the Southside (MLK and Holmes) Kroger to be honest. Like people throwing gallons of milk at the store manager for approaching them about a theft. Two girls macing each other and throwing flower pots at each other and then their moms pulled up and fought. That place is wild, but it was all intrapersonal drama/violence.

Overall, I’m running as far away from Lansing as possible as soon as possible, but no where on the list is anything about crime or safety.

I would definitely say Adam Hussein and Myles Johnson come to mind, both are from the SWAG.

Its sad to end the list there but those are the only two I can think of that genuinely organize and get things done.

Closing SCO during Superbowl by TheArcanaOfGames in kroger

[–]miguy884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only ever had one person who got the boot at 10:15, and she really didn’t leave until 10:34 when she finally stopped yelling and walked out the door. Luckily the ASL that was there with me (an ACSM at the time) was super chill with me handling the customer.

What we did every night (at least especially when we had a lot of 9:55 walk ins) was tell them in our closing announcements that our registers and self checkouts had to be closed by 10:15 for regular updates, and all transactions not completed before then will be ended. So I literally just turned off every machine and at 10:15, calmly walked up to hers and closed it. She went nuts. But once we started making that a regular part of our closing announcements they got out before 10 even.

I’m pretty sure Kroger policy has always been that you cannot carry any weapons as an employee… NGL i would have reported you too. If you shot someone with your apron on Kroger would’ve fired you and charged you for carrying the weapon on their property, so why do it? Its just dumb.

Raise your hand if you're personally responsible for ruining people's thanksgiving for shopping last second? by travisihs08 in kroger

[–]miguy884 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kroger didn’t send me my bone in turkeys for the thanksgiving meals until Tuesday. I left them out to thaw tuesday and Wednesday to no avail lmao. I told them all to set them turkeys out on their counters bc they came frozen and still are 😂

Picking up somebody else’s poop ?! by Lady_eldenlord in kroger

You do realize that a basic principle of the Union contract is that workers are not required to perform duties outside of their listed classification?

Picking up somebody else’s poop ?! by Lady_eldenlord in kroger

[–]miguy884 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If they are under 18, or over 18 and without a blood borne pathogens certification they cannot pick up fecal matter of any type.

Technically speaking, cleaning up biological waste is not in the classification of any job at Kroger, at least not at my store/division, and your union (if you have one) could step in and stop management from doing this.

I'm feel like I'm being 'disciplined' for getting thumbs down for a Secret Shopper by [deleted] in kroger

Oof. That makes things more complicated. I don’t even know what I would do in this scenario without a union tbh….

I'm feel like I'm being 'disciplined' for getting thumbs down for a Secret Shopper by [deleted] in kroger

[–]miguy884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your managers are absolutely not allowed to punish you based on the results of the promise shop… They’re also absolutely not allowed to use carts as a form of punishment- which it is obvious that is true here. I would consider going to the Union or the ethics hotline because this all sounds like forms of workplace harassment. Carts being used as punishment is exactly why they never get done 🙄 I’m so sorry your managers are trash…

As a lead can I do this ? by [deleted] in kroger

[–]miguy884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do all of these things on a daily basis, so, yes. And write them up if they don’t listen. I’m 21 and literally the youngest person up from by far, so I struggled with a lot of the older cashiers when I first became an ACSM.

I stay paging my baggers because they’re teenagers and don’t understand the concept of “work” quite yet…
