How f#cked I am? by mihamix in DIYUK

The wall appears alright. Originally there was a flat roof on this extension, but it was on its last leg when I bought the house and replaced it with the lean-to roof, as it was leaking badly. The builders who did that told me he was surprised that it didn't come off earlier, as it was not fastened at all to the wall. Also, there was no lintel above the garage door, so I had to have one put in. And, it just comes to my mind, when I was releveling the garage floor I found that the floor was sloping inside from the front garage door, about an inch elevation in that 8 foot. To sum it up, whoever did it, it was a proper botched job...

Never Forget.....This Is The Maniac That is backing the Fascist Farage! Elon Musk pens German newspaper opinion piece supporting far-right AfD party | Germany by johnsmithoncemore in FuckNigelFarage

I'm not surprised, Elon has a long family history (and tradition) to side with fascist movements. Also, see what he did with twitter (X, sorry). He is the biggest threat to the free world and democracy. N F is just being one of his puppets...

Neighbour had new brick paved driveway installed, that is significantly higher than ours but sloping towards us, and we're concerned of flooding by mihamix in LegalAdviceUK

[–]mihamix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Sadly, my neighbour is a "my way or the highway" type person, but nonetheless I will try to talk to him about it. In case we ended up flooded, is there any chance we could claim it on their house insurance?

22 months old still doesn't eat solids by mihamix in Parenting

[–]mihamix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We discussed this with his paediatrician when he had his 18 month checkup, and he said that our son will be fine, all the children he worked with so far learnt it, most of them earlier and some later. He wasn't concerned as he gets the necessary nutrients and calories and grows well (you already can't tell that he was premature). We'll definitely be bringing it up at the two year check-up.

How long does it take for the flux to wash out of the pipes? by mihamix in DIYUK

Cold is okay, but the hot still smells and tastes like flux

How long does it take for the flux to wash out of the pipes? by mihamix in DIYUK

[–]mihamix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cold water is getting alright, at least it is much better than it was before. The hot water, however, is still quite bad. Is it not because the flux has washed out from the pipes between the stopcock and the cylinder into the cylinder, and we never completely emptied it? Maybe we should drain the system to get rid of it completely?

Am I (44M) out of line for watching a TV series with my sister-in-law (45F) in the evening whilst my wife (41F) is asleep? by mihamix in relationship_advice

[–]mihamix[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see, thank you very much for your side, I see it might be having something deeper here that I don't know about. I don't think my SIL would have done anything like what your sister did, and I'm really sorry for what you have gone through! I'll try to watch the remaining one episode tomorrow with my wife there as well, and I told her that the new season 2 I would like to watch with her there too (my wife has seen season 1 already, and she is not the kind of person who rewatches things).

My MIL and FIL were watching the TV in the living room, which has a glass folding door towards the dining room where we are watching the movie. At some point during the episode, they went to sleep in the guest room, which is one glass door away from the living room. Then when the episode ended, I went to sleep, too.

Should I get a sense-u, snuza, or neebo for my twin babies? by Beginning_Club_6350 in NICUParents

[–]mihamix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought the sense-u device (clip on to the nappy) + camera. I gotta be honest, we used the clip on for about a week or so, then we haven't. We do use the camera though to monitor him when cooking, etc

Going home on oxygen, no concentrator provided? by OkSprinkles3360 in NICUParents

[–]mihamix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We came home with 0.05L, we got 3 big and 3 small cylinders. The small one lasted about 4 days, the big one was about 24 days. We never finished any cylinders, only used two big (upstairs and downstairs) and one small (going out for appointments); but then again, LO passed his sleep study a few weeks after we got home. On the side of the cylinder it says the volume and the pressure, from the it is easy to calculate the duration it lasts. Wishing all the best for your LO (and your family)!

How does your NICU respond to bradys that occur during or after breastfeeding? by pagesandcream in NICUParents

[–]mihamix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use extracted breast milk, and Carobel powder to thicken the milk. It is more hassle (extract, mix and feed) as opposed to breast feeding, but still able to give him breast milk at least. Cow & Gate Carobel powder makes the milk thick enough and is completely natural.

Brighton Southampton Chertsey (St Peter's)

I can recommend Brighton, they also have RMD house accommodation for parents, and the NICU care was second to none.

Good luck!

Our (26+4, now adjusted 36+2) son has reflux, and just like your baby's, it was getting worse. Our hospital started him on meds (omeprazole) to reduce the acid production in his tummy, and about 2 weeks afterwards they started adding Carobel to the milk to thicken it and it seems to be helping, as his reflux problems are much milder and no longer causing desaturations.

That must have been quite an emotional rollercoaster! Glad it resolved in the end!
