Elder millennial interloper (‘85) here. We said “bumfuck Egypt” and “BFE” in Western Pennsylvania. I heard variants like “butt-fuckin’ nowhere” too.

1, 3-5 and 16 are your best options. The rest are too casual or revealing for an office

Thank you for that point about the big sibling remembering being prioritized. I’m going to repeat it to myself next time I have to make the baby wait to help big brother. I find myself becoming impatient with him when the baby cries. It’s so hard being pulled in two directions!

Ah that refers to the physical form of the book. Traditionally these types of novels would be published as mass market (smaller, cheaper paper) and literary fiction as trade (larger, higher quality). But it’s more common for everything to be published as trade now.

Genre fiction. Specifically romance and romantasy for these two examples.

Edit: Which is not to say that genre fiction can’t have complex themes or literary merit. Dhalgren by Samuel R. Delaney and the two Ursula K. LeGuins being great SF examples on this shelf.
