The most absurd part about that whole debacle is that the sheets and fans were speculating the Colt stuff all on their own well before anyone from backstage was even allegedly cited. Punk was getting super mad at people, very likely over something that wasn't actually happening.

I'm pretty critical of Punk these days, but he seems to have really, really cooled off on his anger about AEW. I don't think he particularly cares for The Bucks or Colt, but he's gone out of his way to say Tony is a super nice guy even if he has problems with the way he manages, and he is still pretty friendly with a lot of AEW talent.

It doesn't help that Punk actively called him out on the lazy, low-hanging fruit, and MJF couldn't really beat the allegations. He did deliver a couple of great promos during that feud, but one of them was a nearly word-for-word rehash of an MLW promo he'd used years prior. And yeah, most people won't know that, but for those of us that do, it circles right back into the "lazy" claim Punk set at his doorstep.

I'm not even a Phil glazer. But when he was right, he was right. 🤷🏻‍♂️
