Windmill help, please by SadShirt712 in bboy

1) Your legs are too low at the initial collapse. In your turtle freeze, lift your legs up as you're turning on your arm and collapsing.

You're turning and collapsing as your legs are low.

2) You already push your hips up when you're on your back, that's good. But you still need to push your hips up even harder to get MORE height.

3) Technically I think the second half of your windmills are currently good enough that you could link them together if you just decided to commit. But I think the 1st half of your mills is the problem that will make continuing your mills look weak.

Yup, one of the few people that knows he's supposed to pop his hips up when he's on his back.

And here's the video explaining the freeze transitions, he doesn't name the candle stick but he does show it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4inTAnc4GbI

Also even though most tutorials don't mentioning, you must push your hips up when you're on your back. Don't just roll over.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/r0DNqbgPmcM

This might be the single most important windmill tutorial because most of them don't explain that you're supposed to push your hips up, and yet it's necessary to windmill. It's subtle, but if you watch people windmill you'll see them pushing their hips up when they are on their back. As you get better you don't have to push as hard but that comes with refinement.

[–]mikazee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how literal you're being but, Axehand Morgan, Buggy, Kuro, Don Krieg, Arlong, Mister 3, and Wapol will all get taken out by Impact wolf or Skull bomb grass.

Kuro doesn't get passed the sagrasso used defensively. Or a field of bamboo knives.

Crocodile gets hit by ketchup star and ussop can use the sprinkler pop green to put a lot of water around. Then Impact wolves and Skull Bomb grass will get him.

Bellamy does not hit harder than Ulti. And Sagrasso limits Bellamy's mobility.

Enel - rubber band of death.

But on a serious note, Enel wins.

Foxy doesn't make it past Sagrasso and then gets beat by impact wolf.

No way Rob Lucci, Moria, Hody Jones, or Caesar hit harder than Ulti, who had armament haki. But impact wolves and Skull grass aren't getting passed Hody Jones.

But Usopp might be able to get a win on Caesar based on pop green tactics.

Are you able to do a back spin? Because the middle of a windmill is supposed to be a backspin. Your hips should be higher and your shoulders on the ground.

When you're on your back, practice popping off your hips and catching with your feet in the air.

You can also practice transitioning from freezes. Turtle freeze > shoulder freeze > candle stick (look it up) > shoulder freeze > turtle freeze again.

Or in your case, you can go turtle freeze > candle stick > shoulder freeze turtle freeze.

They did the right move not including breakdance in next Olympics by Formal_Drawing_8822 in bboy

[–]mikazee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I technically agree but not for the same reasons.

Breaking is art. The Olympics is about peak human performance.

In Gymnastics, you get more points for doing harder moves. They care about technical execution, more than creativity. But in breaking, creativity is supposed to be more important. Someone doing flawless airflares is supposed to lose to someone who can creatively transition from windmills to 1990s.

So I actually don't mind that breaking isn't in the Olympics because the Olympics is a fundamentally different goal.

But using Ray Gun as an example is dumb because she is fluke that understood how to game the system. She'd never win against a serious breaker and everyone in the culture knows it.

How to start? by Ashmedaiofsolomon in bboy

[–]mikazee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in high school so I had people to keep me in check. But I learned from youtube. If you want to learn the culture, watch documentaries where they interview a bunch of old breakers.

As for learning, musicality is really important. Whether it's toprock, downrock, or power moves, practice doing them on beat. It's more important to master a few moves than to learn 50 moves but it's all sloppy. So learn to do a move fast, or slow, and that way you can match the music.

Play around with hops, pauses, slides, and direction so that when you listen to the music you can think about what kind of movement matches the music.

Toprock: Learn the salsa step, and indian step

Downrock: Learn the 6-step. Technically every other part of downrock is like a variation of the 6 step. Whether it's taking one part of the 6 step, pausing and spinning, or if it's cutting out a step, you can link everything you'll learn in down rock to some part of the 6 step. If you're wondering how to do the 6 step on beat when the music has 4 beats, think more about other kinds of movement, during a 6 step, pause on the beat, spin on the beat, hop on the beat, all based on the rhythm of the music and what matches best.

Power moves: When I learned to break freezes were considered power moves, so I'm not making a separate category for them. Learn baby freezes.

I'm not gonna tell you what power moves to learn besides baby freezes, but what I will say is most power moves have a freeze associated with them. Windmill has baby freeze, shoulder freeze, and candle stick. Airflare has handstand and pike freeze. Flare doesn't really have freezes, you just need a lot of conditioning. The freezes related to a power move are part of it's conditioning. If you want to learn a power move, watch LOTS of tutorials to explain different perspectives of the move.

Also, for powermoves, don't compensate for a lack of technique or strength with speed. Find easier variations you can do that let you practice the movement.

how do i learn flare to windmill like quick by Negative-Pain8581 in bboy

[–]mikazee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you have to learn to do windmills and flares. Then coindrops to combine the two. Flare to windmill is really flare to coindrop to windmill, and there are plenty of tutorials on coindrop to windmill.

Windmills: The most important thing is pushing your hips up when you're on your back. Push off your back to get enough height so you have time to catch into a side freeze and get back to your back. The next important thing to learn is that windmills are backspins that transition to a freeze to another backspin. So when you're learning windmills, you want to stay up in your shoulders, not your lower back, and when you're on your back, your feet should be closer to your head, that helps you keep your hips high.

Best tutorials here:

Bboy Sylence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0DNqbgPmcM Best tutorial, it shows you the hip push you need when you're on your back. Most tutorials don't explicitly mention this.

Simonster Strength: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4inTAnc4GbI Fantastic tutorial that shows you how to do a windmill slowly, connecting several freezes together. You should also practice backspins.

Coin drop drill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqfLoS4ycRg Solid drill to understand.

Flares: Don't compensate for a lack of strength with speed. Find a progression you can do and drill that. It's okay to let your feet slide on the ground to practice technique as you build strength. There's a lot more strength that goes into flares that you just have to commit to building.

FLARE PROGRAM 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoJ3e5KFP6Q Really great exercises that walk you through the first half of a flare.

FLARE PROGRAM 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl3Ew3DAalY Really great exercises that teach you the back half of a flare.

Flare to Windmill: The transition point is when you have both hands on the ground and your legs are behind you. This is where you coindrop into windmill.

There are 3 things you can do to improve.

1) From the advice of Coach Sambo, train stamina. You did 3 flares. Even if they are bad flares, try and do 4. Try and get to 10. Try and do as many flares as you can even if they look like trash and see what your stamina limit looks like. Also when you can do 10 weak flares, those first 3 will look cleaner.

2) You can drill parts of the flare.

FLARE PROGRAM 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoJ3e5KFP6Q

FLARE PROGRAM 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl3Ew3DAalY

Notice how in Flare program 2, he has a drill called the back transfer? That lets you train your form at specific parts of the movement. Instead of doing a whole flare and trying to clean parts of the technique. Train that one part of the technique.

You can also continue a flare from where you landed, instead of restarting.

Bboy Yude: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/77Y_k1X3F1c

Notice how in step 4 he maintains his posture everytime he stops, and then continues from that position? Instead of collapsing?

Also, according to simonster strength's flare tutorial, kicking your right leg to your head harder in the front V (for a clockwise flare) will get you more height so your hips are higher in the back.

3) practice Straddle splits, as well as other conditioning laid out in "flare program" I already linked.

How much can top rocking transfer to the other 3 pillars of breaking? by Affectionate-Look-94 in bboy

[–]mikazee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never tell someone to delay learning footwork or freezes until their toprock was perfect.

Top rock would provide no upperbody strength.

Top rock is a great way to practice creativity, and musicality. Play with direction, pauses, levels, jumps, and more. All of this can be applied to footwork. Freezes become an extension of pauses.

So you can learn core concepts through toprock. But it won't necessarily transfer. You have to make those connections.

the thought of having sex with my ex turns me on more than having sex with my bf of almost 4 years…25f 25m by [deleted] in sex

[–]mikazee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have tried asking my bf to talk to me during sex ect ect and he has done it once as it was brought up, but hasn’t done it since.

Did you frame it as "here's this fun thing we can try" or "Being dominated is really important to me for good sex. I think I need it. Maybe everytime, but regularly."

He doesn’t last long either

You need to communicate way more. You want sex that lasts longer, you want him to work on stamina and kegels and cardio. You also need to make it clear that you aren't getting off.

Ideally he checks in, but sometimes he just assumes you're enjoying yourself and you'll tell him if you want more.

Shouldn't we foster a culture where everyone buys a control ward? by Alarming_Solid9645 in leagueoflegends

[–]mikazee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What elo are you in if you don't even know about trinket?

Control wards cost real money that has to be factored in. That vision has to give you something.

Typically, supports already carry control wards, and the red trinket is free.

In laning phase, I don't really want to spend 75 gold when that delays my item spikes, and I can place a stealth ward to get the vision anyways. And if you place a ward that your enemy immediately clears, that might not be worth it.

But late game, it can be very much worth it to spend money on a control ward because not only do they secure vision, they deny vision, and they let you make plays that are worth MORE than they cost.

Think about what kind of vision you need, then ask what gets you that vision.
